Ok, so I collect everything, MOTUC, Transformers, JLU, Marvel Legends, Star Wars, and of course G.I. Joe. So I have some friends coming over to help me as I like to call it "categorize and condense" or others would say inventory. I take stock of everything I have once a year usually after SDCC and place it all in boxes neatly labeled with the value of everything each and total of said box. I know non-MOC collectors would say open it man, but I can't display them the way I want to yet because I don't have a house, but maybe I will one day. My question is for you other MOC collectors, what do you do to come up with the numbers and the organization?

I get storage containers and usually box them up by Release Wave, get some note cards to attach to the top, with whats inside, condition of card, and any other notes.

I am not into collecting anything but MOC Joes. That said, I just organize them by waves and put them into walmart bags to keep the dust out. then I place the backed figures into plastic storage containers. I make a inventory list and tape in onto the container for reference. Works good for me.
I know there are also alot of openers out there. I made the mistake as a kid of opening all my joes. I had them all. Snake Eyes V1, SE V2, and so on. Worth hundreds if not thousands now on the card.
I will never make the same mistake ever again. I just buy opened figures of the ones I really want to play with. The rest are MOC.!!!

So you lable the box with it's contents, cost per and total? Like you're running a store for theives. Thief-Mart. Everything is labeled and neatly packed for stealing.

Okay...I just have to ask: Why?
In my head, it's insane enough to pay money for something only to leave it in package on a wall (really...just collect high res images of them: it's free).
But...to buy things only to file them in boxes with spreadsheets and inventory tasks...Wow.
Not only are you cripplingly ignorant, you whine about it as well.

I've only got a select few of the modern era 25th Joes MOC cause I liked the card art. Otherwise, I mostly open all my Joes. The MOC are sitting in a storage bin, waiting for the day when I get my own man-cave to display 'em.
