Well, the Secret Wars Wolverine does use the wave one Mu Wolverine body, right? Maybe you had issues with that one too, I know I did, but if you liked that one...
As for the Red Skull, yeah, reusing that mold does seems a little off. But it is an Exclusive, and they rarely spend money making new sculpts for those. At least thet used a Nazi for him. Still, the Wave 1 RoC Destro may've worked better. Speaking of Destro, the SDCC business suit looks too much like Xavier for it not to come around at some point. I agree about the excessive amount of Caps, Spideys and Torches in this series though. But the ML series reused bodies over and over again as well so, can't really say much about it. It's just the nature of making profit off the smallest costs. |

I have only picked up a few of the figures. I agree that the line has some flaws but it is selling well.

I started picking up the MU figures because of the Nick Fury figure (I need him for my Micronauts) and the details of how to get him had not been revealed. So I collected a few so I could 'mail away' for him when the time came... and now you have to subscribe to the Marvel online service? Ugh... I guess I'll have to look on ebay...
(and I really want the flame on version of Human Torch and he still eludes me) |

I'll admit just like you I was pretty stoked with the arrival of these figures. I bought a few from the first wave but for whatever reason wasn't totally sold on them. I traded them off thinking if I change my mind I'll buy them again. I kept an eye on the racks seeing who was out, some looked cool most looked goofy with bad paint applications. So I stayed away.
When the Secret Wars and Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends sets were announced I got excited again. I figured I'll start over and start collecting them with the arrival of these sets. Found them all at TRU the other day. Looked them all over and went with the Spidey/Friends set (which was one of my fave TV shows as a kid) Got home opened them up and was immediately let down. Firestar looks like some kind of hunchback with big granny glasses. Iceman won't even stand, his legs are all warped from the packaging plus he looks like 8D-8 from Star Wars. If you thought Spidey sucked from wave 1 this one isn't much better. Now reports are starting to trickle in that the Secret Wars sets are flawed as well. I don't know...I guess these figures just aren't for me. I'll stick with my 6" Legends and be happy with that.

I got some figures from the early waves and love modern Iron Man, Hulk, Thing, and Green Goblin. But some of the figures just looked like complete a$$ ... plus the price of $7.99 has made me VERY selective on what I buy from this line.
I miss the classic Marvel Legends line, which were a much better deal.

I've mostly liked them, but it's purely pick-n-choose for me with the line. I was excited about the comic packs too, but couldn't bring myself to buy them after finally seeing them in hand ($12 for 1 new figure is a bit too bonkers for me) Hopefully that will change with round 2. I'm still supporting the MU line though and will continue to buy what looks good to me and leave the rest.

Seems like they stalled after wave 3 on distribution, too, or else I'm just not seeing figures before they're bought up.

Yeah, i was so excited about this line, but it's just crap for the price. if the figs were $5-6 i could justify it more, but charging the same price as ROC Joes that have better sculpt, articulation, stands and come with an absolute metric butt-load of accessories?
more then anything it's the stands that piss me off, i mean, seriously??? this is 2009 and stands have been coming standard with Hasbro's 3-3/4 figures for what, 5 years? then there's things like: the terrible Black Panther body Iron Fists diminutive head blue wash on Black Spider-man $30 for TrU 3 packs (i know that's not Hasbro, but seriously, wtf?!?!?!?) Using the Extremis Iron Man armor for the Silver Centurion Making a new Spider-man head that's actually uglier then then the first wave version the whole line being out of scale with Hasbro's other lines (the figs are really too tall to interact with Joes/star Wars) The piss-poor construction, using plastic T-ball-joints where the 25th Joes are metal. the 2 horrible versions of the Punisher... The way i'd fix it: fix the body construction like Joes with the metal T-bar and better, more standardized articulation, Figure Stands, Unmasked heads where appropriate and at least 1 alternate set of hands per figure (i.e. Spidey with fist hands and web slinging/rock fingers hands)

I got no major problems with the MU line. I think it's the best since the 25th Joe line. I'm skipping the wave 1 CPs because I don't care for the characters, but I'm getting waves 2 and 3. Yeah, there's been talk of shitty quality, but I just got the Spiderman and Amazing Friends three pack and I think the quality there is awesome. The paint apps on all three figures are excellent. My Firestar in particular looks perfect. I'm very happy with this line. I just wish they'd put more characters out with each wave since I can afford to buy more now that the Modern Joe line is on hold and I don't really care for ROC.
