[QUOTE=Jmacq1;901769]The 4 Horsemen are basically the most well-known sculpting team in the toy business. If I recall correctly, they got their start at McFarlane Toys and then eventually branched out on their own. They do lots of work for Hasbro on their DC and MotU lines, but also have their own "independent" line of fantasy-flavored figures.
They have a good reputation among fandom/collectors because they've made it very clear that they're very much fans of the properties they work on. Actually they didn't "branch out" they were let go, by McFarlane for reasons I'm not allowed to divulge on a public website. Nothing really scandalous mind you but it's not public record yet as to why. In any case I'm on the Four Horseman's side. |

Mattel's properties are not in my intrest.
Hasbro carries the most beloved series - Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Transformers. Nuff said.

I also know the company went through several rounds of downsizing, and heard that Todd pretty much replaced most of his sculptors with digital imaging people who would just do 3D scans they could clean up. Whatever the real story is, the only thing he's doing worth a damn right now are the Halo figs. |

Back when 4H worked for McFarlane, it was during a period when they had some fragile toys with amazing sculpts(for the time) and before they all became statues with random joints that wouldn't look right if moved at all!
True story: On a trip to DC to see a cool Star Wars exhibit with friends, we each found a cool Zombie Spawn action figure! In the car, each of us tore into our figures. Both of my friend's figure's broke at the elbow of the chainsaw arm at the slightest movement attempt. We went back in, exchanged one for the only zombie spawn left, which proceeded to break also. 75% breakage stat. Unbelieveable. I used to collect a lot of these at the time, and the box or my old Mcfarland stuff is like a tomb of toy horrors, as many have snapped and warped jus from being stored. What I'm saying is, I side with the Horseman, even if alleged murder is involved. |

McFarlane is a businessman. I respect that. He's tough on his people and demands the highest quality while remaining anonymous. I can respect that anyone would not wanna take that and would want to further his/her own career. It was something that was inevitable and I think all parties are better off with the result.

Everything I heard suggested that McFarlane doesn't want to give his sculptors any kind of public credit so they won't get too big. This is yet another reason I hate McFarlane so much, as it's basically the very practice he and his compatriots rebelled against in Marvel when they went off to form Image comics.
I also know the company went through several rounds of downsizing, and heard that Todd pretty much replaced most of his sculptors with digital imaging people who would just do 3D scans they could clean up. Whatever the real story is, the only thing he's doing worth a damn right now are the Halo figs. well he dose make good figs but if he was great business man he'd recognize that halo figure would sell very well in 1:18th scale
