I hope we get some news/clarification on the Mattel Top Gun line - even if it's just confirmation that it's the matchbox sized stuff.

Cobi got the Top Gun license for the brick built plane variety for Top Gun. They had two Hornets and a Mustang on display at Nuremberg.

I may actually buy that carrier and some of the planes. That way after a few kids take a pak-fa to the eye I have one of the few Mib carriers out there.

That Click N' Play FA-18 Hornet may be the best option with no Top Gun toy news outside of the matchbox set.

Was already posted, Mattel getting the main license really has to be more than a little Matchbox line because Matchbox or Hotwheels would have probably gotten their own limited license for it anyway.
Like how they have Hotwheels for Star Wars despite Hasbro having the master license I always found the idea that they were going to make a full-blown 80's style (figures and vehicles) toy line for Top Gun (sequel or otherwise) a bit far fetched. |

It doesn't really have to be more than that, though. We don't know how much or how little Mattel paid for the license, and probably more to the point: Top Gun has never been a toy franchise (or a "franchise" at all until now).
