Or his torso is too wide.

And his dong is weirdly flat.
And yeah, a fully-articced 18th RoboCain would be pretty damned close to my #1 action figure want of all time; esp if it had the extendable facescreen and a removable brain unit. |

Removable brain unit should be a standard piece of articulation on every action figure.

I think what we are seeing is the way the shoulder joints attach to the torso. The original Robocop was an actor in a suit, but because of the way the toy’s shoulder attaches I have a hard time imagining a human being inside that. I suspect the problem is that you have two angular pieces of plastic that can’t intersect. So they would have to either shave off the corners of the torso and give it a rounded look, or make the ball joint long enough to give the shoulder some clearance. Otherwise it would be a swivel joint and that would not be cool.
I agree the dong unit looks too flat. The original had a more rounded and tapered codpiece, and less square. |

That's exactly what I hate about the NECA Robocop. The shoulder joints are these tiny little ball hinges that would never accommodate a scale human arm within them, and as a result, the shoulder armour largely blocks upward movement, preventing the figure from actually replicating the character's iconic "gunslinger" pose.
I think you both nailed why it seems a little off. That said I still think he looks good, and the thought of a 1/18 Ed-209 make mes salivate
