I stopped and browsed today to see what Lego sets were out. They had a ton of SW, Indiana Jones, a few Pirates, Castle, and other sets... I really enjoyed Lego as a kid and have been thinking about getting back into it. I love putting things together.
Does anyone still collect Legos and what would you recommend? I'm looking for something that's available now and not that hard to get.... |

Depends on what you're looking to spend at what you're into. I got back into it when I had my first son. He's 4 now, and he enjoys the Power Miners; I have to agree. They are kind of cool in that all the vehicles serve a different purpose and they all have some sort of moving parts. But if I had to pick a favorite that I like, it is the Emerald Night train set. It's about $90 alone, but you also need the track and power functions to see it move. It can only be found at Lego stores and online at Educational Toys, Learning Toys, Construction Toys | LEGO Shop. If I may make a suggestion, go to legoshop.com and look at all the new stuff coming out in August as well. There is a carousel that plays music and moves - it is pretty amazing. And it should be, for $250. But check it out; I am addicted again, like I was as a kid to the space Legos.

I collect SW and Batman Legos. Both are awesome. The SW X-Wing is awesome, as is the Darth Vader Tie Fighter. The new Hoth mini-base and Battle of Endor sets seem awesome too.

Me and my wife collect the Lego City sets. We really like them but they do take up a lot room, but if you're able to get like the Cafe Corner 10182, the Green Grocer 10185 or, when it comes out, the old style city firehouse 10197. Oh there's also a market street 10190. But I don't know if that one is still available. They're all large sets and modular and connect together.
My Brother in Law collects the Castle stuff and he says that they are fun to play with and fun to build up an army as well. |

The Space Police sets have just been released and are pretty cool.
The Batman sets were also pretty good but they have been discontinued The non-licensed Lego sets are better value for money, atleast that is what I have noticed |

Check out the 5000+ piece Millenium Falcon. Barring that, Try the Space Police line or the Clone Wars.
