I SO agree with you. This is why I was into Transformers when they first came out in the 80s but quickly lost interest. It is also why I rarely pick one up these days.
I think they look really awesome but the scale difference even between figures in the same class really frustrates me. Sometimes I simply can't resist the special ones like the alternators or Masterpiece versions but for the most part the scale issues keep me out of Transformers. Ohh.. Speaking of a disapontment. I went to BK yesterday and picked up a Kids Meal Devestator. If they think they are going to entice kids into the property with this crap they are selling they should think again. I know its a Kids Meal toy but still. This thing sucked worse than the 80's McDonald's Happy Meal Transformers that I was pissed about back then. i was like "oh neat!" then i opened it and started to mess with it... it has an on/off switch? hmmm... flipped it on... pressed the button on the roof *WA-CHA CHA CHA!* "OHHH FRIGGIN AWESOME!!!!!" i had a small nerdgasm there. pretty neat for a happy meal toy, just for the transforming sound chip alone. gave him to my 10 mo twins to fight over haha (and because of the "forced sharing" lol i'm tempted to go get another one and repaint him with some krylon red for a cool cliffjumper variant haha) as for scale, yeah i hear ya all. thats why i loved alternators/masterpiece! my jazz or smokescreen alts fit right up into masterpiece convoy's trailer no problemmo! (yes its the actual takara trailer. woohoo for living in japan for 3 years!) but i cant wait to see how tiny the leader class jetfire will be. oh well.

Hasbro will not dilute THEIR properties. Hasbro owns GI Joe and Transformers. It does NOT OWN Star Wars or Marvel. That's not diluting THEIR OWN brands. That's making new toys off of licenses they got from OTHERS. |
