not hate, just don't like them. The sculpt's, scale (very important), and paint apps for the stactions BLOW AWAY the new classics line...no joke.
This line stinks for a simple reason: every figure is the same size (like the vintage line). The 200X line was amazing. Every figure has it's size and all stactions are to scale as well. In my opinion, it is the closest to perfect as a MOTU line can be. My only gripe: stactions have no articulation. If they did...perfection. |

the 25th joe line helped expand the joe universe in the eyes of collectors, retailers, and kids imo. if you haven't heard of mattycollector, you have no idea about the new motu line.

Granted, on a larger scale figure you can get much greater detail, but the MOTU line is incredible. They took a horribly articulated line and increased the quality infinitely. The Joe line has similar detail and increased articulation, but CHEAP figures. I think Mattel has done a better job improving the quality of the figures over what Hasbro has done with Joe. There's not much more that could be done with the Joes, and the MOTU line couldn't have been much worse than the originals. I personally feel that this MOTU line is better than any toy line out there. If these were made for stores I'd bet they'd not be as nice. I doubt I'll have a MOTU arm break in two at the jointed elbow like I have had on a few Joes.

I tried to get into MOTU back in the day, but the scale just threw me off as I was/am a Joe & Star Wars guy, but if they ever bring MOTU into 1/18, I'm there.

I love both?
As a kid, I was a big He-Man fan, but never had any GI Joes. Well, I might have had a few from other people giving them to me for birthdays and such, but GI Joe was never my thing as a kid. That said, He-Man MotUC is a great line. No other He-Man toyline can compare to it in articulation. It gives throwbacks to the good parts from older lines, and is really a line dedicated to the people that love the toyline. GI Joe on the other hand, is a great line also. Great articulation for 3.75", sold extremely well, brought in a lot of new people (like me. I never got into GI Joe until I got 25A blue suit Baroness), and gave a lot of great nods to the old stuff, just modernized in some cases. So, of the two? I vote MotUC is better for the collectors that love the He-Man mythos, but GI Joe gets the vote for being better for the general public. |

Agreed; I liked the 200x versions for the "modernized" image of classic characters, just like I like the Classics/Universe TF line for the same reason, but for MOTUC vs 25th, the two lines that are bascially more detailed/articuated updates that still stay extremely fathful to the original, I gotta go Joes here. Price and variety win out. The MOTUC line is phenomenal, but every figure is a Conquest or Rattler. I don't own either of the planes, and every time I look at a MOTUC figure, I just see a Joe plane. I can justify $30/month for 4 Joes a lot easier than I can for 1 MOTUC.

A few of you have brought up the 200X line, and while I agree that the cartoon upon which the toyline was based was phenomenal, and the carachter designs were great, I don't think the actual toyline was all that amazing. The sculpts were nice, but the articulation wasn't anything special and everyone was all hunched up.
... and no, the Stactions don't count! We're talking about the actual toy lines, not statues! ;)

Ugh, I hate making spelling errors and I can't use the edit feature on work computers...
I also want to point out that we're getting 200X elements in this new line - who knows? We may get some figures too, eventually. Technically, we've already got one - King Grayskull.
