^This all day. If the worry is over cancelations or returns of presales (from price speculating buyers) let's just make presales non-refundable and only allow returns for defects in workmanship or materials. Twofold effect would be better QC and better figure selection.

Yeah you said it right there. Do 12 pre-order figures a year make them like the latest Wal-mart exclusives Rogue One figures in quality and articulation. Put them on your website and make money from the collector community. For Star Wars I am sure it would result in millions of dollars of per year in gross sales that they are not getting now.

It's really a no brainer when retailers, who buy hundreds of thousands of units, still want to buy hundreds of thousands of units. It's a silly question to even ask. Axonrey and his pals will buy $10,000 each of product, but Walmart will buy $10 million. I wonder who Hasbro should be catering to. |

So say there are 2 million in sales out there for pre-order. That is 2 million Hasbro does not have now. There is nothing stopping them from doing both. There is also nothing stopping Hasbro from then a year or years later selling existing collector figures designs to customers like Wal-mart if they want them. This would then give Hasbro the opportunity to leverage existing designs paid for by collector dollars to other bigger customers. |

While this is true. It is also true that if they sold 12 figures per year as a pre-order Hasbro knows what they are getting and what they are getting into.

Until retailers stop buying in volumes that make collectors irrelevant from a large scale development need, Hasbro has no need to alter what they are doing from a business standpoint. |

Hasbro does $5 billion in revenue annually; the idea that they would completely change their business model for $2 million, which will be $2 million collectors will still buy through traditional avenues not $2 million extra they don't have, is simply the typical collector idea that they are more powerful in the market than they really are and should be catered to more than they are.
