You know...I thought that too...especially with everyone over at Fwoosh calling this a "6 inch scaled" line. But I think of it this way: We understand that Megatron can change his mass so he can fit in either Starscream's or Cobra Commander's hand. Let's say that Optimus Prime does not change mass when he transforms (which if I recall he didn't on the cartoon)....looking at the truck windows on his chest...they would fit perfectly with a 4 inch figure as that is the same size of a Freightliner cab. So I figure these would have to be more scaled to 4 inch figures than 6 inch figures. Taking that into affect and that Megatron is about the same size as Optimus in robot mode....I think these do very well. |

Now, wouldn’t it be cool if Skystrikers were painted up and could transform into accurately sized Dirge, Thundercracker & Starscream figures?

I guess this belongs here...
1/16 scale Jada Optimus Primes. Jada Toys Metals Die-Cast 1:16 G1 Optimus Prime & Hollywood Rides 1:16 Movie Optimus Prime Trucks - Transformers News - TFW2005 If these work well with 4" figures, I'm getting that G1 version. Maybe even the movie version because it reminds me of the MASK Rhino. |

Another option is ThreeZero's Generation One. They retailed for $400 (*gasp*), and I think the Prime goes for even more than that now, but their Ultra Magnus is currently on sale for $200 via ThinkGeek.
Here he is with the Acid Rain Space Scientist (or Payload, as I call him): The Space Scientist, unlike modern Joes, is actually 3.75-inch scale, and Magnus is sixteen inches tall, so it doesn't work as well as the Prime figure featured in this thread, but you can make it work in photos. Plus, for my money, the Mega Prime is (paradoxically for such a tall figure) too squat and chunky, whereas Magnus is lean as hell. One guy questioned the scale, 1/16 would be pretty cool.

Was looking forward to seeing Joes and Cobra square off backed by Optimus and Megatron. If someone had a big enough space, would be awesome to see full Joe and Cobra armies at the Transformers' feet. I think they scale beautifully. |

I thought about moving the coffee table out and getting a wide scale picture with everything going on but I am too lazy to do that. Besides...due to the pipe that busted in our master bathroom back in June and all the damage that it did downstairs...we are living in the other half of the house. My oldest is coming to visit next Monday and he will have to sleep on that couch in the toy room. Creepy indeed. |
