I really like Hisstank member beachead's topic on Childrens Palace vs Toys R Us. I enjoyed hearing people good times with CP/CW etc.
I sometimes think about my trips with my Dad to Gold Circle and Hills just to name a few. If Hollywood can bring back old classic movies and remake them, why can't retail bring back some old classic department/ toy stores. I know that some people might say well this store or that store did this wrong and that's why they went out of business. But man how it would be so cool if someone wanted to start up a new store and say you know what Hills, Gold Circle, K&K, Childrens Palace was good lets start them back up. It's time Wallyworld and Toys R Us had some competition again. I say bring back the Castle. |

Good Luck they don't make toy stores anymore, now its all about gaming ,computers, and electronics.
Hell my 6 year old niece rather go online and play games rather than play with her Barbies. My friends little boy he is about 7 when I was 7 as a kid I would go outside and play with my GI JOES, he'd rather stay indoors and play on his wii or go online. |

My, how times have changed. I know what you mean. When I was a kid, I'd stay home and play with my toys (G.I.Joes, Transformers, etc). Now they'd rather stay home and play video games.

Hills is where the toys are. I miss that store and their amazing plexi-glass toy displays. Sadly though it's all about video and computer games and action figures are dying off and retail just can't support the massive amounts of space they used to allocate. I like where your head is at though Cobra80, anyone that drops a Hills or Gold Circle reference is a friend of mine.

I say they should just dedicate a store line that is only for action figures, cars, and models a real toy store.
If they want to buy computers or video games go to a Best Buy |

around here we had a place called Duanes Toyland...this place blew all other stores in the capital distict away...ground level, a HUGE toystore that had everything you could think of...they had pegs and pegs for EVERY wave of figures from all the different 80s toylines...none of this ' wave 12 sells out then wave 13 ships 'crap.Downstairs, it had a huge room for electronics (atari, "computers" and eventually Nintendo,Sega, 3DO etc) they even had a cluncky ole robot that wheeled around...in the back of the store they had tons of storage room, which was essentially toy overflow from upstairs...when they ran out of room for He mans, they put the older ones downstairs on pegs and refresh the upstairs ones...

Wow, Hills. I loved that place. Are they totally gone now or what? Remember their little elf/sprite mascot?
