I got Zoe in from BBTS, despite the reports, I like her much better than I thought I would!

I think a lot of the criticisms were over-emphasized and the good qualities kind of minimized by the people like me who got them from the kickstarter. Somebody on the other page who missed out said they thought they dodged a bullet - but the ZombieLab figures were not really a disaster or anything. They had some flaws that resulted in problems, but they always were good looking figures. I don't think they are any worse than say, Acid Rain figures. They just weren't *as good* as the Boss Fight or Marauders figures.

I recently finished selling most of my ZL All-in on ebay. I probably came out even after shipping and ebay fees and I am happy with that. Ever since I saw BFS was going to use the molds it was an easy choice for me. The figures have great sculpting but I've had 2 break in my hand. Mnay of the joints at the hip don't fit and the legs fall off. The compatibility with BFS figures is not smooth, and the paint on the zombies is very dull. Most of the detail of the sculpting (which is great) is obscured by the poor paint job. These are going to look and move much better after BFS gets their versions out. I have no problem with people who love their ZL figures but the quality is very disappointing IMO. I wonder if the break up among the creators had anything to do with rushing out a product that need some fine-tuning before release.

For me, the paint apps made these the ZL civilians unacceptable. If anyone still thinks they are that great, they should buy my last one. It's still sealed. I never opened any of mine. I have a Ryan left. To me, the skin tones look like they should be someone who turned. They aren't natural colors at all.

This negative narrative about Zombie Lab's quality issues is way overdone. It snowballs, people pile on, hysteria ensues. I went all in and only had a couple of QC issues with no breakages. There's no doubt that a few of the figures have terrible skin colours, but that was apparent early on and out of 33 figures I think it was, I can live with that. Part of this narrative I think has been amped up by this falling out with Boss Fight. Frankly, there is a lot of rampant fanboyism among the Boss Fight community, where Boss Fight can do no wrong and people quick to pile on. I also went all-in on Boss Fight. Yes, their overall execution is better than Zombie Lab. That said, I have a lot I could complain about with Boss Fight as well. And all things considered, there's a lot to like in the Zombie Lab stuff. |

I don't see the point to factionalism like supporting just BFS or just LockerToys... it's silly. |

What some of you guys are engaging in is ad hominem. You aren't arguing on the merits, you're just implying that the opinions of those who disagree with you are invalid because of a conflict of interest or due to group think causing people to pile on. So let me first try to dispell that notion about myself at least. Then, if you like, we can debate the qualities of the figures rather than those of our peers and adversaries.
I don't particularly even like BFS figures and I personally refuse to order from their online shop after poor experiences with it the first (and now only) two times I placed orders there. I only own 3 or 4 BFS figures (plus 3 skeletons). I have an Amazon Archer on "pre-order" with BBTS that apparently will never arrive. I planned to make a Wonderwoman custom out of it. It looks like BBTS will never get those figures in stock and rather than chase one down elsewhere or buy one from BFS direct, I'm choosing to skip it altogether. It's not worth the trouble and I was barely willing to buy it when I placed my initial order with BBTS. I'm not a huge fan. I have no BFS KS rewards pending and I have never received any KS items from them in the past. With that said, I don't particularly dislike BFS figures either. I've made use of their parts and made custom adapters to help others make use of BFS and MTF figures together. I'm fairly neutral on BFS figures overall. None of this impacts the following issues with Zombie Labs figures:
These ZL figures aren't the worst figures ever made and I don't think anyone has said they are. However, they are a fairly harsh letdown in the eyes of many. That's not BFS fanboying, that's just assessment based on the bullet points at the top of my post. These figures failed to deliver on some pretty fundamental quality factors. The sculpts look good and the accessories are very well-executed. Other than that, what about these is especially praiseworthy?

For me, I wasn't overly impressed with the joints (very stiff and not made out of a colour matching the limb) and the overly thick paint work wasn't great on some figures.
To be fair to ZL, the designs, such as weird skintone, short short, heels and jacket, and middle aged face on the school girl, were all visible in the kickstarter design art, which influenced how much I pledged. At one point in the kickstarter, I thought maybe they were building up the parts so that they could release some better designs for a second retail wave, but it looks like these really were the best designs they had come up with. In my opinion Jack and Marian are decent figures, but with better QC they could have been great figures. |

Got home this evening after being away for the weekend and mine had arrived. I was only expecting the one head so was pleasantly surprised to get three to add to my parts box.
