In lieu of the release several months ago of the 25th Anniversary Optimus Prime with DVD and comic book I was wondering if there have been any other G1 Transformers have been reissued in the last couple of years. I bought the TRU Exclusive Soundwave but other than that can't think of any other G1 Transformers that have been reissued.
Are there any others out there? |

Hasbro promised more reissues to come. But honestly I don't know. We're already halfway into 2009, the 25th anniversary of the franchise and still Optimus was the one and only reissue we got. I guess Hasbro is full steam ahead on the movie, and there is only so much shelf space...

Several years ago. Hasbro released almost all of the original Cars and Jets at TRU in a book / box style similar to the Soundwave you have. I have 16 of them at home
Here is an example of Jazz

Yup, a while back 2002ish? Hasbro released a Transformer toyline called Commemorative Series, which was a line made up of reissued G1 toys in the book style mentioned earlier, at the same time there was a Japanese version of the line under Takara TF Collection or "TFC" While some of the reissues were similar there were a few that the American line didn't get, ie, Insecticons, Blitzwing, Kup, Blaster, Minibots (Bumblebee, Powerglide, Gears, Warpath, Cosmos, and Huffer) and Megatron.
Since both lines are out of production they aren't going for MSRP sealed anyways. So you could find deals for MIB or Loose Transformers. Also with the G1 reissues, as stated above, there is a new line called the Encore line. It's basically reissues of G1 toys in their G1 style boxes but it's a Japanese line so you're going to have to look online for them. I myself, have the TFC line and parts of the Commemorative Series and I'm currently thinking about getting into the Encore Line. |

I wouldnt bother with Hasbro reissues. Almost everyone they have released has been changed from the original. Either they are lacking chrome parts or the missles have been lengthed to meet todays safety standards. The only ones that I can think of that didn't get changed were Hot Rod and Dirge. Red Alert and Hoist are passable to. I would reccomend the Takara reissues. They are much better and have a greater variety of chaacters

There is also a rumor that some of these reissues will be coming out again soon. I believe I remember seeing a story that listings have been found in the TRU computer.
