So I just found out recently that Hiya Toys is producing a 1:18 scale line for Aliens: Colonial Marines (which I found via BBTS). I don't know much about the line, including how long it's been for sale (though earliest mention I can find of the line is from late last year); and, I see very few posts on HissTank regarding the line, so I don't have much of a peer review to go off of to determine their quality. Judging from the pictures, they look pretty nice; but, at an average of nearly $25 each, I'm not in a hurry to just drop the cash to find out for myself. So, I thought I would start up a thread, and ask a few questions of any Tankers that happen to own the figures, and allow any owners of figures from the line to post their opinions.
(Apologies in advance if this was covered already; I swear I did a search and came up with a goose egg, apart from one dio post.) Questions: *How is the general build quality? Are they reasonably sturdy? Is something likely to stick and twist off the first time I move the joint, or will they hold up under reasonable adult "play"? *How is the articulation? From the images, they look like they have most all the usual POAs covered, but I can't quite tell what's going on with the hips, or get a feel for the range of motion. *How is the scale versus other modern figures? I see the description for the Marines is 3.75'', and the Xenomorphs is 4'', which makes me a little worried that they might be under-scale compared to most modern figures--which, despite conventional classification as 3.75'', are really closer to 4''. (NECA's Gears of War 3 figures had the same problem, but they were only $10, and detailed AS BALLS, so it was easier to forgive.) *I see they have stands; do they support the same footpegs as most modern figures? How about backpacks? (I'm guessing "no" on the backpacks, but "yes" on the stands.) Thanks in advance! P.S. I did find one thread that indicates Hiya was making hints to a Predator line as well...

I'll do that, but I'd still love to hear from some Tankers that own them. Have a little back-and-forth going. Thanks for the suggestion, though; I wouldn't have even thought of YouTube for something like this.

I have one thus far: Hicks. He's standing here on my desk right in front of me at the moment. He's good, but not great. I would most closely compare him against the Marauder Task Force figures in terms of plastic "feel" and paint apps. The biggest QC problem with mine is that neither arm likes to stay in its shoulder socket, and I have had to pop each one back in several times. This makes two-handed rifle holding almost impossible. I could probably fix this with a little sanding, but I don't have any of my "toy fixing" tools here in my lab. My biggest gripes with the figure on the whole are the lack of screen accuracy with two things. One is that the helmet is completely missing the neckplate, and its shape doesn't really resemble what was seen in the film. He also has no back-mounted scabbard for his shotgun. The facial likeness is... not much of a likeness... but I wasn't expecting anything like NECA quality, either. I paid $25 shipped for mine, but I honestly wouldn't want to pay any more than that.

I wanted the power loader. But theres no window into the box and I wont take the risk that its a stupid size that Joes cant sit in.. I already have Aliens from the Microman line. Theyre awesome looking, but if you breathe on them the wrong way they break.. I would be curious to hear what others think also. I guess no one has bought them.

This is my pic I posted in another thread here on the tank.
I really like the figures they have done so far. The Colonial Marines are cool but the Aliens are better IMO. The Aliens are not as fragile as the Microman and Hot Toys Snap Kit 3.75" versions. I've had 1 of the Aliens that had a super loose leg straight out of the box but other than that they have been great. The Power Loader is really nice but I do fear that too much movement may break something eventually. I would recommend getting a few Aliens. Also, I am really looking forward to the Predator series. Not so much for Dutch and the gang, which I'm sure will be cool, but I want a kick ass 4" Predator.

I have the same Alien as above. It's really solid. I've posed it a few times and my five year old son even played Star Wars with it and it held up. No breaking, tight joints.
I can't spend $20 on those Marines though. The faces are just too off. Slightly off topic, has anyone bought this: Aliens ReAction 3 3/4-inch Retro Action Figure 3-Pack - Alien Figures ? I'm wondering about the loader.
