So I just found out recently that Hiya Toys is producing a 1:18 scale line for Aliens: Colonial Marines (which I found via BBTS). I don't know much about the line, including how long it's been for sale (though earliest mention I can find of the line is from late last year); and, I see very few posts on HissTank regarding the line, so I don't have much of a peer review to go off of to determine their quality. Judging from the pictures, they look pretty nice; but, at an average of nearly $25 each, I'm not in a hurry to just drop the cash to find out for myself. So, I thought I would start up a thread, and ask a few questions of any Tankers that happen to own the figures, and allow any owners of figures from the line to post their opinions.
(Apologies in advance if this was covered already; I swear I did a search and came up with a goose egg, apart from one dio post.) Questions: *How is the general build quality? Are they reasonably sturdy? Is something likely to stick and twist off the first time I move the joint, or will they hold up under reasonable adult "play"? *How is the articulation? From the images, they look like they have most all the usual POAs covered, but I can't quite tell what's going on with the hips, or get a feel for the range of motion. *How is the scale versus other modern figures? I see the description for the Marines is 3.75'', and the Xenomorphs is 4'', which makes me a little worried that they might be under-scale compared to most modern figures--which, despite conventional classification as 3.75'', are really closer to 4''. (NECA's Gears of War 3 figures had the same problem, but they were only $10, and detailed AS BALLS, so it was easier to forgive.) *I see they have stands; do they support the same footpegs as most modern figures? How about backpacks? (I'm guessing "no" on the backpacks, but "yes" on the stands.) Thanks in advance! P.S. I did find one thread that indicates Hiya was making hints to a Predator line as well... Thanks for all the links and personal feedback, guys! I appreciate it a lot. Basically, the way I'm adding it up, the figures are OK (especially the Aliens themselves), but not really high-quality enough to justify the cost unless you're a huge Aliens fan--and I am, at best, a casual fan (although I appreciate the significance of the franchise). I might eventually drop the cash on a single Alien just to have a sample of the line, but overall, these don't sound like they'd really be worth the money to me. I'll nevertheless be keeping an eye on the line to see how it develops.
Either way, at least we now have a thread to accumulate feedback on current and future products!

What stops me from collecting this line uninhibitedly is the Marine helmets and the camo patterns on their armour and BDUs (which seem to draw inspiration from the unlockable multiplayer skins from the game rather than how the characters appear in the campaign). The faces don't bother me.

These figures aren't top quality like I expected. UNLESS you display in package, they look awesome in box. I was expecting Acid Rain quality figs for 25 bucks a piece, but the LCS had the wave and a guy bought one and I checked it out and they seem flimsy and cartoony to me. Plastic felt cheap. Still cool figs though, just display them don't mess with them and you will be happy.

I like the Facehugger Chamber accessory pack....$20 is a little more than I'm willing to spend. If they go on sale at some point, to say under $15 then I think they'll be great to have around for dio details.

Yeah, but those are NECA, so they're scaled for the 7'' figures, right?
