I'm extremely interested in this line of figures. Have you guys seen the vehicle and crusher alien prototypes at SDCC? This line has a lot of potential.
That being said, I think you're better off going MTF for the Marines or at least updating them that way with some more gear/headswaps. Last edited by Kamatayan; 09-13-2016 at 10:19 PM.. |

$200 would be an *amazingly* good price for the APC.

Here's my opinion. I love Aliens (the movie), particularly the colonial marines and their hardware. So I shelled out the $25 each for the 3 marines, which is a little steep. It's true that the likenesses to the movie characters are way off, but as it's been said here, that's is a licensing issue and you could tell this from the product pictures before hitting the "buy" button. The paint apps are really good as is the articulation, especially at the hips (without one in front of me right now I can't really describe the hip articulation, but it think it's like the Acid Rain figures). It has also been mentioned here is that the figures are fragile, and that is true as well. You have to be very careful when "unlocking" the joints and I've had problems with one of the legs staying attached at the hip. As for gear, the helmets aren't great, lacking detail and missing the neck gaurd and the mic attachment. The reenforced front of the helmet is also not very well defined. This gives the helmet the overall impression of a just Vietnam era helmet with a camera on it. The other armor is very screen accurate though and helps in distinguishing the figure as being a colonial marine. The gear they come with is great, particularly their pulse rifles, motion frackers, and the shoulder mounted lantern, all iconic colonial marine gear. The Quintero figure comes with a smart gun, but the gun feels small and there is no harness or steady cam armature for it. In conclusion, I've made a squad of colonial marines using MTF figures and helmets cast from the snap kit marines and I like them much better. However, I am very excited at the prospect of Hiya making the APC. It will probably be even more than $200, but the closest thing on the market is a $500 1:18 polystone statue made by Hollywood Collectibles that has very limited mobility and no features whatsoever. Hope this is useful information.

They are, although I am not sure when they will be out. Hiya did a fan poll a while back to see which characters were the most desired. Check out Hiya Toys on Facebook for more info.

Thanks for sharing pics. These are too pricey for me, when compared to the NECA Aliens figures. Love the APC, but I can't afford $200.

Saw the Funko Powerloader set at TRU today for $30. Looks like you could get a modern figure in there, even though it would be out of scale. But looks like it could be used as a type of exo-suit type armor on the taller, modern figures.
