So, can anyone reasonably expain the purpose of a toy company making blind bags!!!!!!?????
Back story; I never got into the kreo Joes, my kidos who are now grown never got into Legos in general. Fast forard to today. my 23 yr old daughter in engaged to a wonderful guy, he was into legos and it is what made him pursue a career in engineering, so they collect legos. today I went to toys r us hoping to burn a gift card up on something for my collections,...nope. so I grabbed 8 of the disney mini figs for her, she already had 7 of the 18 in the first wave, so I thought I had a good chance of getting maybe 1-2 dups,..NOPE I went 4 for 4!!!!! again what is the purpose of a dam blind bag other than for the toy manufacturer to rip of adult collectors ( ok I get it collectors are adults) BUT what about the little kids who love disney and love lego??? their folks now have to keep buying blind bags hoping to not have another dup, what the hell!! And yes i have tried the whole feel out the bag thing, it is impossible for me to tell the differance between the genies tail and ariels, or the aliens head or stiches? so thats not an option. I also wonder if there is a place i can go to trade dups with other collectors, like i said im not a lego guy. |

First - it's an easy way for toy companies to make $$$. Kids love surprises and if they get doubles then they have to spend more money or trade with friends.
Second - Google "Lego Dot/Bump Codes" and you should be able to find the right one every time. (this also works for other blind bag toys just google around for it. I use the "letter codes" for the Minecraft blind boxes) Third - I'm a Lego guy and I like to try to find the right ones by feel method. It's a fun challenge. Hope this helps!

Hey thanks Monk, I know it's a angle for more money but still had to bitch a little about it
Definitly going to have to do the Google thing, thanks for that. I did try the feel method, 15-20 minutes and I couldn't figure out crap buddy :/ Anyway thanks again Sir! |

I used the feel method and found Ariel and Malificent this morning! All I need now is Ursula. I don't normally collect minifigs, but we are big Disney fans at our house, so it was a no-brainer.

I used the feel method and have successfully found the last two waves in one shot. I like going to the Lego store and doing it because someone else is always there doing the same thing. My kids get into it and we are asking "Does anyone need a Mickey?" or whatever.
Ursala is pretty easy. Her entire bottom half is one big piece.

I'm crap at deciphering the dots and feeling up the bags- thankfully there is a little Lego re-seller down the street (Bricks and Wheels) and he always has singles of the minifigs for about $5 ea. Pay a bit more but get just who and how many I want without the extras

They do it so there aren't shelf warmers. Look what being able to see the figures does for all the other lines. You can buy whole waves off ebay for $5 over retail and that's $5 total, not per figure.
I bought 18 figs from lego.com and got 6 dupes...so I will just buy the 6 I need off ebay. I suck at the feeling for figures. Last edited by hahoo3; 05-23-2016 at 10:28 PM.. |

Sell the duplicates on ebay.
$4 for blind bags sucks. I'm cheap and poor, but I'd take a chance at $2, like when they were first introduced... I'm pretty good at feeling up things, I've only been wrong three times, once was my first attempt, and the other two I was being rushed. Don't look at the bag while you are feeling it, look at the picture on the box,or display. Visualize what you are feeling. Feel for unique accessory pieces. |

Thanks for all the input guys, right now I have just the 4 dups. Peter Pan, Mickey Mouse, syndrome, and Buzz Lightyear. Still 7 away from the set. Daughter has not been able to find them over in her area as they have sold out at her TRU and Lego store. She is boggled as to why they don't sell them at the Disney store in her mall?
