Which is odd given that Wal-Marts are saturated with product. |

They are and they aren't. The Walmarts which have them have decent stock, but there are areas which do not have them. Also, there are some where the packs with Snake Bite and Puma have already been snagged.

Alright prognosticators.....
How much time will pass before we see a Lanard male figure with the new articulation style? 1) Lanard strikes while the interest is surging -12 months or less. 2) A little faster than usual but still a long time - 2.5 to 3.5 years. 3) Typical Lanard time frame - 4 to 5 years And do you think we'll see new characters or the New Recruits with updated hip articulation? |

3) 4-5+ years if at all.
Would be neat if it happened now- if they are in the middle of some big change in product to more articulation, but they've been using the same basic figures for so long I think they'll just stick with what they've been doing. The introduction of the new females was nice- but I don't think it is a sign of any big revolution in Corps! toys outside of adding some new figures to their stable of standards. |

The entire reason they switched to t-crotches was because the then-new GI Joe line (JvC 2002) was doing it. When Joe switched back, they didn't because the T-crotch figure design was CHEAPER than the o-ring format. While the current ball hip design might be cheaper...it is still more expensive than a basic t-crotch.

I used to collect Joes in the 80s and I had a few Corps figs as well. I preferred my Joes naturally but fast forward to today: I bought a GI Joe fig (it was a movie one http://images.comiccollectorlive.com...59f21a9d0b.jpg) and a few Corps figures for my son. I (and my son) much preferred the Corps figures. They were much more sturdy and durable than the Joe figure (which felt so thin and spindly and cant stand on its own for nothing) I felt it had too much articulation for such a small figure. He plays with his Corps soldiers far more than any other toys he has.
If I were to add anything to a current Corps figure it would be wrist articulation and ball joint hips. (Also more unique characters/expanded roster and a comic book...)

Now we got people wanting The Corps to become more like GI Joe :p I'm sure somewhere in the middle is a great toyline that would hit all those marks...

Not bad Lanard. 2 yrs and 3 months from the original post before the new male figures arrived on toy shelves. That's a lot better than the 5 yr + time frame most of us expected but they were worth the wait. Last edited by Plasticfan; 01-20-2018 at 06:19 AM.. |

And as for my 2 cents... Lanard figures are crap. I hate them. I've bought Lanard figs for the monsters and occasionally a vehicle, but most of them are just junk. I say that because I'm a snob. I want high-quality, realistic figures that I can pose on aftermarket stands and leave on a shelf for years. And that's NEVER going to mesh well with cheap, sturdy figures that are targeted at children. As we have already mentioned repeatedly, guys like 'Star Wars' can get away with having a high-arty 'Black Series' because the market for 'Star Wars' is orders of magnitude larger than for GI Joe. What I've noticed Lanard does RIGHT is that they are willing to take advantage of economies of scale by producing generic figures that can be reappropriated for things like 'Kong' or 'Rampage.' If Hasbro was willing to do this, they might be able to capture more audience and reduce their price-per-unit. It seems obvious to me. They've done it in the past ('Street Fighter' and 'MK') and in the ME we saw them proto this idea with 'Jurassic Park' GI Joes. I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before... and it probably has... but it doesn't make sense to me why Lanard can get away with this while GI Joe cannot. The only explanations I can come up with are: (1) Hasbro is not interested in flash-in-the-pan properties. Things like 'Kong' and 'Rampage' are not going to be decades-long franchises. Hasbro seems to have this idea that everything just HAS to be the next 'Marvel' or the next 'Star Wars,' and they seem averse to the idea of aiming at low-hanging fruit. This is probably because (2) every time we get a peek behind the curtain, we find evidence that Hasbro is an internally competitive and dysfunctional organization. More than once we've seen them fire whole teams for little reason or no reason at all, rather than encouraging loyalty and allowing their organization to benefit from experience. And then they wonder why their 'Crown Jewel' product under-performs. Last edited by solosam; 01-20-2018 at 09:10 AM.. |

^ Have you purchased the new Lanard figures (specifically the new male figures that were released days ago. The new corps Elite not the Rampage Rock aka Dwayne Johnson figure)?
