From toynewsi.com:
Mattel Puts The Call Out For A JLU Bail-Out by Jay Cochran in DC Comics at 04:00 PM on 2009.05.05 ShareThis» Search Ebay Mattel has put the call out to collectors asking them and their friends to run out to their local Target stores to buy up all the old 2008 JLU stock currently sitting on shelves so that Target will move forward with putting out new 2009 stock. Here's what happened: Mattel, the largest toy comany in the world seems to continually have problems finding a competent overseas factory to make their JLU products. As they explain, in order to keep their shelf space at Target stores safe they had to continue to send out old 2008 stock of their JLU figures while they looked for a new factory to make their 2009 stuff. Now they have a new factory but because the shelves are flooded with old stock, Target stores won't purchase the new stuff. So Mattel's Facebook page is asking you to bail them out by buying this old stock to make way for the new stuff. What's next, if people won't buy this overstocked product it will then be collectors fault that the line failed????? If you ask me, maybe Mattel should foot the bill and buy the old stock back from Target so that they can then stock the new stuff. It wasn't the collectors' fault that Mattel seemed unable to pick a competent factory to begin with, so why should the collectors be the one to have to pay for the mistake??? Head over to Mattel's Facebook page to see the post from Mattel on this, and let us know what you think about this below in the comments section. Should it be up to you to clear out the old stock so that a store will put out something new? UPDATE: Mattel has indicated in their message on Facebook that they are funding a month long price reduction on 3 packs. It's unclear if that is supposed to be going on now or at a later time. I have not seen any price reduction at my local store as of this weekend, but let us know if you see any type of price reduction on these at your local Target stores. |

It's these figures. They're not terrible, I guess. Certainly not my thing. They can hang for all I care.

Well, in southern cali, that sale that they're sponsoring is certainly doing the trick, I went to target last Saturday to look for new JLU product and the pegs were full of JLU, I went there tonight after dinner at souplantation and they had one lone fire/ice/gl 3 pack. I'm glad socal has mad customizers.

Well if they go down I would pick up a pack for my son. We still watch JLU almost everynight on boomerang. He likes the toys.

Ugh.... I hate the JLU line. Let it die please. I just want there to be some freaking DCU figures. THe only DCU figure I have is Hal Jordan AND HIS LEG SHEARED COMPLETELY OFF. Really quality there. At least the Movie Masters were somewhat good.
