Today Scott Neitlich, of Mattel submitted his letter of resignation to work for another toy company where he stated he would continue to work on major toy brands. The speculation is that Hasbro picked him up. Scott has done herculean volumes of work on Mattel's adult collector line such as DC Universe, Ghostbusters, and Masters of the Universe Classics.
IF the Hasbro rumor does pan out to be true there's no reason to think Scott would work on Joe. However, considering Scott's success in adult collector lines and it's a comforting dream that Joe fans might get a Matty Collector type collection line coming, or at least a brand manager with a reputation for fighting for fans and adult collectors. Though Scott may get set up at the Transformers side of the isle but time will tell. Read the article for yourself and come to your own conclusions. I forgot where I read it, I'm searching for the article like crazy right now, but the rumor is that he's been offered a position with Tyco.

Found this on Hasbro but it's dated from September. Probably too old to be relevant. http://jobs.hasbro.com/job/Pawtucket...2860/42830600/

If this rumor is true I hope Mighty Spector joins GI Joe.
Also, FYI, Tyco is part of Mattel. Last edited by Raw Dog; 10-20-2014 at 08:50 AM.. |

Wow how disappointing. Thanks for the heads up. Fingers crossed still for Hasbro, LoL but if you find any further info please throw it up.

On another site, it posted he was probably headed to Spin Master because of a post by Dave Vonner about Scott Neitlich. With Vonner working at Spin Master people were speculating Neitlich might be going there.

it goes against a HUGE number of trends Hasbro has pushed in the last 2 years or so. Hasbro's prior attempts in that area haven't gone well, and outside MOTUC, the Mattycollector offerings have generally been "meh" received. Further, it competes DIRECTLY with the GJCC for what would basically be the EXACT SAME kind of product: largely repaints and part mixes with the odd new head here and there. While it would be cheaper, I don't see it being less than $20 without some major retail support.

I don't see him going to G.I. Joe if he goes to Hasbro. I think it's Star Wars. Since they're ramping up for the big Episode VII push, it makes sense to grow the team even if they've laid off elsewhere.
If it's not that, then he it's likely he was quietly let go, allowed to resign once he found something new. If that's the case, I could see Playmates or something with Dave Vonner, since then he wouldn't have to relocate. |

Yeah, still haven't found the article. But it was all speculation in the article I read that this guy was going to Tyco. But with the recent job opening at Hasbro in that field it may that several toy companies were offering him a position but ultimately chose Hasbro. But the Hasbro position states that it's in their Star Wars department. Probably gearing up for Star Wars VII. You know they'll have new Star Wars product on the shelves many months before the movie comes out.
