I recently picked up a few Star Trek and Terminator Salvation 3 3/4 inch figs from TRU. I know many of you are curious as to how they compare to Joes, and the answer is: not as good at all, go figure.
First off, the Kirk and Spock that I got are barely 3 inches tall, have terrible paint, and come with a phaser, a loose fitting belt that "slides" on, a base, and a bridge set piece. They have zero likeness to the actors, and the thigh articulation is lacking severely. Although, the 6 and 12 inchers look better, if you want to spend the cash. Next, I picked up a Terminator T-RIP figure, which I believe is the same as the T-700 but with lighter paint apps. It featured 2 decent guns, and no other accessories. The figure had zero neck articulation, zero wrist and ankle articulation, and a "T crotch" front swivel articulation on the thighs. The paint looks decent, just silver drybrushing over black, but it works. I actually kinda dig this figure. Would work well for army building. |

If I may....
I have an army of Endo-skeletons, T-1's and Hunter Killers and I will admit they are not "Joe Standard" but are way fun and brings a bit of the future to the Joe universe here at my house. Also, you can fit one figure in the Hunter Killer in case you were wondering. The opening is on the bottom of the ship/robot. Was thinking of adding the Star Trek Transporter to the Cobra forces only because of its neat gimmick but after thinking clearer I thought that money is better spent supporting the Joe line.

Hey, just wondering, are there T-1's in scale with Joes? I have only seen the 6 inch ones. Also, I wasn't dissing the Endos, actually I really like them. Like the next evolution of B.A.T.s. I just think that instead of 3 different scales of figures for both movies, they should have picked 1 scale and made them ultra bad-ass with more accessories and stands. They look really nice in the packaging though.

I picked up all 10 of the New Star Trek Figures. Why did I do such a silly thing, you may ask? Well I want the chairs and computer terminals that they come with. While your review is spot on, I.E. the Trek figures suck, the chairs and computer terminals are worth it to me. Has playmates not done this, the Trek figures would have been a wash out and warmed pegs for months to come.

They look great. I should take some pictures of how the Bridge set looks with Cobra Televipers manning the controls. It is really nice looking. The Trek figures where a major let down, Playmates droped the ball on this one.

I picked up the vintage 6" Spock and Kirk but passed on the rest of the line (including Terminator)....I'm more into the vintage looking stuff (when is Arnie coming out???) and I had to cut corners somewhere. I've had them in my hands several times but always put them back and run screaming out the door.

Personally I'm curious as to why the John Connor figure in the Terminator line is wearing sunglasses and a mask. Do Bale's likeness rights not extend to the 3 3/4" line or something? Regardless, while the Terminators themselves don't look bad, the human figures are crap. Ditto the Trek figures.
