yeah, we have seen some of those designs as early as six years ago.
but there are protos that are older than that that haven't seen production, so.... |

When I first dipped my toes into Acid Rain, I thought they were so expensive and I treated them like precious things handling with kid gloves. But fast forward a few years later, I might have 60 of them and just think and handle them like any other figures now.
In the interim, the American independent 3.75" companies have come along (Boss Fight, Marauder, Chicken Fried, etc) with high (and in some cases rising) prices, while Acid Rain prices have risen at a slower pace, so that now they're not far apart at all. But of course, if we're comparing Acid Rain (or any of these other lines) to mass-market retail figures, then sure they are still a premium product. Speaking of which, if you're just looking for an astronaut type, Fortnite's Dark Voyager is beautiful, though it's also at a premium as sold in a pinata (though maybe you can snag it alter on sale). Also Planet Green Valley has shown off some exquisite-looking astronaut prototypes, but those are probably some ways off (assuming the company gets through its initial teething pains). All that said, the Acid Rain astronaut is still something special, just in terms of the heft of it along with the gritty look and feel. It's really unique. I love it and have four of them. I do like the Planet Green Valley, are they even available anywhere? |

Thanks. The Fortnite figure is okay, but I really like the space prisoner look. I concurr with what you are saying, not long ago, I would not have even considered 30 bucks for figure, but I know own four CFT figures, and am considering more. It is only money, and if you enjoy the figures, what is the difference between 15 dollars, which is what TVC Star Wars goes for, and 30?
I do like the Planet Green Valley, are they even available anywhere? My big line was Marvel Universe and I might have 300 figures I don't know. So while still at the tail end of that and its mass-retail price point, I was balking at Acid Rain prices. But since moving to these premium lines, I'm not spending more, maybe less, as there is less product. So I'm paying more, but buying fewer things that I appreciate more. That said, there are more and more premium lines. But I just dip my toes in strategically, where I was all about quantity on the Hasbro stuff. Planet Green Valley got to production on a six-figure first wave I think it was, but wasn't satisfied with the production quality. So it all got really delayed as he convinced the factory to redo stuff, which is expected by year end. The creator's a real artist though and was seriously bummed out by the toymaking process, so I don't know if he'll continue or not. I really hope so, as he showed off some really next-level prototypes. |

This thread is quite old, but I'm not sure where else to ask.
Does anyone have the AMM Prospector figure from this line? Can you remove her vest? Early shots show her without it, but I haven't found a review with it off. Thanks!

Yes, it's removable.

I foolishly decided to army build the Ghost Laurel and bought 5 of them from pia-club.com. It took 3 weeks to get to me from Taiwan, but the bigger disappointment is how brittle the rubber is on their hands and the ammo belt for the shoulder cannon.
The wrists cannot be moved inside the socket without breaking the hand clean off and even the fingers have broken off on 3 of the figures and the ammobelts all came snapped in half and are brittle as hell. I spent hours last night superglueing their hands back on and will likely epoxy both hands of each figure to the grenade launchers and not mess with them any more. I will try to order some replacement ammo belts from Marauders too at some point. Overall a hugely disappointing toy. I missed out on the other Laurels and went all in on these because they were more widely available. I bought 4 strongholds and will just stick to those from this line and possible add some flak bikes later on. For the money, I would have rather bought some more Joytoy Freemans instead. On another note, I spent the past few months buying Votoms, Hardballers, Freemen, and AR Strongholds and will post a guide to 1/18 mechs this weekend so that other potential collectors can avoid some of the issues I encountered. |

Thanks bro, yeah I think it's definitely the clear plastic. I've heard that it can turn yellow after prolonged exposure to sunlight, but I also think the plastic has likely degraded over the years and is now as brittle as candle wax. I covered the wrists, hands, and fingers in clear epoxy so I hope it stays together.

Here is what I'm talking about. I have tried super-gluing the fingers back on, but because the handle to the gun is so big the fingers break off almost immediately afterwards. I even dipped the hands in boiling water then re-positioned them in a way to allow the Laurels to hold the guns and have tried covering the wrists in epoxy which seems to help with the wrists breaking, but it doesn't matter because the fingers have all broken off.
I even thought about resin casting brand new hands for each of the figures, but realized it would be impossible because I can't remove the hand from the wrist socket without breaking it off from the ball joint. This blows. Last edited by sakuraba216; 05-11-2020 at 03:51 PM.. |

I’m late to this thread but if you contact kit lau on the Acid rain thread and tell him your issue they might help, it might be to late now but I purchased one of the quad eyes and the rubber treads broke, they came out with a fix and sent out replacements to buyers including me, I emailed him and asked if I could buy some more of the tread links n said I had a bunch of their stuff, he asked for a picture, I sent one with me behind like 15 boxes of figures n vehicles , a week later I received 6 bags of tread links n never had to pay for them, was really shocked, I’ve purchased many more sets without any problems, they are a Solid company in my opinion and if you tried you might get lucky.
