I came to a decision last night where I decided that I have to cut back on my collecting some. Now don’t worry, I decided that the only line that I am going to still collect is the MU line. I realized last night that I was obsessed with this hobby and not in a good way. I was making a few poor financial decisions that when I stopped and evaluated everything, I felt silly for making them. I have an addictive personality, and I knew that I had to cut back some. Also, as many of you know I have a few large personal things going on in my life, and I needed to get everything in check. I just realized that I was spreading myself way too thin collecting so many different lines (Joe, MU, ML, SW, TC, TMNT, DCUC, etc.)
At first, I thought about getting out of collecting all together, both comics and figures, but I decided that would not be the best choice based on the fact that I have made many great friendships through this thread, and I do not want those to go away. I enjoy coming here and I enjoy the good times we all have together. I also enjoy reading comics and they both compliment one another so well. Therefore, I thought it would be a good mutual compromise both mentally and financially to just collect MU. I will still be here adding my worthless two cents all the time. Today at lunch, I packed up all of my figures in my cube except for the MU figures. I plan on giving them to my son in a few years, and hopefully he will enjoy them as much as I do. So no sales yet!! I enjoy this hobby and I enjoy you all. I just wanted to get that off of my chest. I feel much better now.

If you have the office space and want it to look pretty slick you could do a post-card sized shadow box (like from a Michael or other craft store) Use a movie poster post-card for the backing and display the figure loose (and glued to prevent tipping) inside- gives you way more variety on figure choices other than waiting for more vintage card options- you could probably make a pretty slick, clean display

good call. it's easy to get overwhelmed. I imagine most collectors have an addictive personality- thats how we become "collectors" Focusing on one line is a great way to keep things in check (if i had to make the same call I imagine SW would be my single 'keep') Once the collection is causing you more grief than good times it's time to let it go This site actually makes it pretty tough to control the collecting bug- hearing about all the cool things everyone is buying- but it's good you're sticking around as the place would not be as fun if you dropped out!

I don't understand why Imageshack thinks all my photos are "Forbidden" all of a sudden. I think it is their way of making me switch to premium. Oh well, time to open a new account

Sometimes we have to make hard decisions, I'm glad you're not stopping altogether. There are times where I feel like that, which usually leads to me selling figures or trading ones away for ones I really want. As long you're collecting within your budget, and what makes you happy then that's cool. I think because of the internet it's easy to get carried away with collecting. There is always that "awesome deal" you just can't pass up, and you get sucked into another line, lol. I'm sure your son will really enjoy the figures one day, I actually plan to give my future children (if I have a daughter maybe I'll get lucky and she'll like comics.... lol) a lot of my collection eventually, if they can appreciate and enjoy it. I think that's a good thing.
Forgot to mention on the way into work today, I picked up the HoM Spidey today to replace my shitty wave 1 version. Such a better mold. I jusst wish it had the Spidey emblem on the chest, but not a big deal as I have him wearing the web-pack. @RoG...I would go with Wicket as your RotJ figure.
