His prices are okay, $3-$5 higher than retail; still less than at BBTS or other online retailers. I know he gets the cases for at least what we have to pay on HTS, but that is because he is a vendor, so I don't hold it too much against him since I would never see savings like that.
He just not a very nice person; quite grouchy. Kinda like he opened up his store just so other people would see what he had. I'm like "Dude, if you don't want me touching the merchandise, then don't put it on the floor for sale." |

Puzzle Zoo here had two cases of Joe Wave 3 on the peg for $9.95 and the newest MU Wave (Psylocke, Age of Thunder Thor, White Iron Fist, Storm, Shadowland Daredevil, Patriot) for $11.95.
Bought one Renegades Storm Shadow and placed the other at the back of the peg for whoever else local to get one since so many of us are having a problem finding one. I'd have gotten Psylocke if her paintjob was better, but none of those will be impossible to find for long the way regular MU waves have been going.

i would probably be like that if i opened a shop. it would be "come see all my awesome stuff" and kids would say "cool! How much is THAT?" and i would say "How much have you got?" and then make everything $5 more than they can afford- but I would make rent by selling booze and porn to underage kids.

Hahaha, pretty much - just too much of a know it all, he is
I also don't like the $0.50 premium he charges if a customer pays with a Credit Card. I take it personally because he knows I never have cash, and that I always pay with a Credit Card. I am also pretty much his only consitent customer and so I think it is just a way to get more $ out of me. Quote:

Sluts or Hoes it doesn't really matter what you call them, as long as they're giving it up, and you don't get burnt.

my only problem with the dst theory is that today stories are managed into tpb format for easy delivery and marketing to the big chain book stores. 4 issues of single and double page splashes offers considerably less character than an old comic with 7 or 8 panels per page. But that got out of control and boring as hell too- a reason why old comics can be looked at so favorable is because the stories were so new. take away that whole " this is new and amazing and never been done" factor and a lot of that old junk is crap storytelling and old fashioned art. That's why I think i favor the 80's 90's stuff (like when Jim lee and Chris clearmont were killing it on the X-Men and Marv Wolfman was taking the Teen Titans to new heights) It was where art was starting to get really really crazy good and the stories were not yet being dragged out to meet TPB demands...
but I can take just about any comic and enjoy it even if it's a 'been there done that' storyline as long as i'm having a good time with it I'll keep on with the next issue. Will you be making a Death Psylocke, or a new Human Torch or new Genisis custom?

With the Comic Book Guy, I still go to his store every so often, because I became friends with his clerk, and I am one of those buy-one-to-keep-MOC-and-buy-five-at-retail-because-I-have-an-addiction type collectors. So, I figure the items that I get at the shop are the ones that are not opened. And, if I find more at the Big Box places, I get to have some loose. |
