Guys I think I have a problem.
I was never able to troop build as a kid. So I had one Viper, one trooper, one Crimson Guard Trooper, and one Cobra Officer fromm dad and one from my Mom. Flash forward to 25th Era; I didn't know about this site; didn't know that Hasbro or Target would not replenish stock, or that a wave would at most stay in circulation for a few months never to be seen again. I thought when they re-released GI Joe, it was like the 80s again and things would be on the shelf for years and years. The sadder part was that I came on right about when ROC was ready to hit theaters so that, by the time I got the lay of the land, toy collecting wise, 25th/ME begat ROC. Flash forward to now; I can't seem to not buy a Trooper or Viper everytime I see one at the store. I don't know if it is because they were hard to come by at first, or, this is how I would have been during the 25th/ME era had I been actively hunting, but I just keep getting them beyond what would be considered reasonable. First, I said just 10 each. Then when I got to that number, I would buy the random extra one here and there - to the point where I obtained my second set of 10 each. At that point I said 10 each to keep MOC and 10 each to open. Now, however, as Targets here have gotten into the GI Joe game again, I am close to my next 10 each. That is close to 60 figures the majority of which are still MOC. Here's the rub, don't really feel like stopping cuz eventual stock will run out, and I don't want to be saying if I had just gotten 5 more. Kinda like when a stripper you had been meaning to try out, but for more "certain" dancers being available, finally leaves the club, and you realize, a "rusty trombone" from her is no longer a possibility Quote:
Here is my take on yours or anyones situation...if you are having fun and you are meeting all of your other financial obligations, then fuck it, you only live once and lets face it, we are hooked on this hobby. Buying a new figure is such a rush for all of us. If I was single (not married with no kids), I would have every damn figure there is to offer and troop build about 30 deep on blue shirts and vipers. But, I semi-restrain myself becuase I have others in my life that I must put first. LL, I say get them all while you can afford it and still enjoy it!!!

With that said, I agree that if you are meeting your financial obligations everywhere else... it's your money, spend however you want. At the same time, ask yourself what you're doing with them though. I army build. Some times to a crazy degree. During the 25th days Cobra Troopers and Officers were like crack to me. Same with BATs to a degree (though more so when they showed up at discount stores). If they had single carded the Strato Viper, made the HISS Driver more common, and carded the Motor Viper.. I'd have a lot more even now. I already have 21 Stratos between the 4 releases (7pack, vehicle, RoC Raven, Target Dlx), but the army would push 50 had they been carded for a cheaper rate. But the more we go along, the more I cut back. I probably should have with Alley Vipers, but AVs were easy to come by and so were Shock Troopers. The only things really left to bulk up on are Techno Vipers and the Zombies. Maybe 15 each.

Well, for 25th I used to buy them when I saw them...then I realized that was kinda silly even for diorama purposes.... Before 25th I had about 16 ARAH EELs and Snow Serpents...which isn't a huge number, but it is more than "I need". Eventually I sold some on ebay when 25th came out...then I started the cycle all over again with Snow Serpents, Trooper, CGs, and EEls....ugghhhhh. I haven't really sold or traded any off, but I realized I needed to change my Troop levels or squad set up. This is especially true since they keep making cooler and cooler versions of figures.
So, now I will max a squad out at 3 and I'll keep one MOC. The squad of 3 could also be a squad of 2 if there is an officer type involved. well, that's my story..no more 5s or 7s, etc. Now it is 3 and done.

I used 3 for RoC, multiples of 5 in general for 25th. Been trying to stick between 3 and 5 for PoC. More for Alley Vipers (20?), Shock Troopers (15), Vipers (10B/5R), and Steel Brigade (12 v1/8 Nirvana SB).
