I am really hoping that MU stays the flagship brand vis-a-vis ML. I have seen nothing in Hasbro's history demonstrating it's ability to sustain a brand two separate and full lines but in differing scales. For example, 12 inch Joe vs 3.75 inch Joe or 8 inch Sigma 6 Joe vs. 2.75 inch Sigma 6 Joe. I mean it is not like they will gain a new audience, any one who likes the Marvel characters are already buying the MU figures. Moreover, the casual Mom and Dad spenders are not going to be buying $15 figures for their kids.
It is just going to divide the MU audience in half, except for the truly hardcore who will get both MU and ML notwithstanding that they are the same figures. [Though, I admit getting a 6 inch Loki to interact with my MOTUC and DCUC; but see, that was money I could have spent troop building Dooms or Ultrons or finally caving in and getting Capt. Britain and Spidey 2-PK; i.e. Hasbro did not get me to spend any more money, it was either going to be $15 to MU or $15 to ML]. Last edited by laurenluna1977; 11-18-2011 at 12:38 AM.. |

I think when they hit the shelf starting at $15 a pop, they'll mostly sit just like when ML was around last time at that price (Hulk FFF Wave). MU is easier to buy in to for the casual person and that's what MU has been attracting in droves: the casual buyer.

The girls will probably sell. The girls almost always sell unless they're really bad. I plan to get a few of the girls and anything ML that would be decent scale with MU.

But seriously, Legends isn't going to go very big. My only worry is retail gutting some of the shelf space for MU (figures and CP space) to add Legends shoved in-between them or something.

Actually I was looking at Valkyrie and Marvel Girl today (the only 2 ML I have) they are pretty different in scale.

I definitely fall in the category of collector who'll get both ML and MU. Although I never would've started collecting MU in the first place, had ML not gone on hiatus. I'll gladly make room for both lines when ML comes back.
