A couple responses:
1. Be aware when purchasing the comic packs that the comic book won't be in mint condition. I bought all three packs and in each one the bottom 1/4 of the comic was bent. The books are also really flimsy and on cheap paper. Personally I don't find it a problem. After bagging and boarding each book they started to regain their shape. I'm more excited about these being the first comics my son reads -- as well as having action figures to play with once he does so. 2. On another note, I guess I'll venture to a Toys R Us about 45 minutes away to see which three packs they have. The nearest TRU only has the Daredevil/Iron Man/Silver Surfer pack. 3. Concerning Spider-Man: I'll only have one in use at a time. He'll probably get a lot of wear and tear, so if/when he breaks I'll have a replacement. If you find you have too many and you don't know what to do with them, you could always give one to a kid. |

As for the figures we saw at SDCC, I wonder why Hasbro keeps putting out multiples of the same figures. I mean, I understand the repaints of Ironman and Spidey, cause they can reuse molds and reduce costs, but why put out two thors around the same time? Don't get me wrong, I like Thor, but there are so many characters that haven't even received a first version, let alone both a modern and classic version. Personally, I'd like to see these things spaced out more. I mean, we're already got Ironman, then classic Ironman, now we're getting the modern movie Ironman in 2010? I'd prefer a new character, you know? I don't think they need to do three different Ironman Molds all within a year.
This will not change anytime soon. It's been working for Hasbro and the retailers for about 15 years now. We'd all love waves filled with secondary characters and villains, but we'll just have to be patient. They can't make the entire Marvel Universe in a year, and we're talking about a universe that's got more characters than the Star Wars saga...they've been making Star Wars figures (off and on) for 23 or 24 years and still haven't gotten everyone made (and they have a lot more waves of Star Wars figures coming out per year than Marvel Universe, to boot). Also, anyone hear about any of the fan favorites that were chosen a while back? I thought Hasbro was supposed to announce at SDCC two additional figures?
The other theory/rumor is that Warpath will be painted into a Thunderbird variant, which would be another character that was on the fan's choice poll. Last edited by Jmacq1; 08-07-2009 at 07:03 AM.. |

Hasbro seems to have forgotten this announcement, however they did display a modern Luke Cage figure, which was one of the choices on the fan poll that was not in the top 5.

Thunderbird was Warpath's older brother. He was one of the new X-men that joined the team along with Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Storm and Banshee way back in Giant Size X-men #1. He died a couple of issues later. Warpath also went by that name for a while.

What's wrong with Thor coming out in the MU line? He hasn't been in any of the 5 waves out so far.

They will be releasing 2 different versions of Thor - I believe one for the MU line and the other from either the Secret Wars or Origins line.

There'll probably be a whole separate Origins-style line for Thor in 2011 when the movie comes out. |

I've come to this realization slowly, and I'm okay with it. I don't have to buy all the figures, so at least it gives me a break at times to spend money on other lines.
As for the fan poll figures, I'm betting Hasbro just doesn't have anything ready at this point. I dunno. Regardless, there are some awesome figures to look forward to in 2010. |
