I saw the loveliest picture today. As I was driving down a side street (because the Railroad crossing was being worked on) I happened to pass a lovely creature. She wore shorts that were maybe a few sizes to small (I could only guess). Her thighs oozed out from the shorts like Velveeta cheese from the foil packet as you squeeze it onto your macaroni. Her shirt was too short and too tight (like a misses size, or one of those tight "athletic" fit shirts) so her belly folded out from beneath and over her shorts that were too small, and her arms puffed out of the sleeves like one of those jerks that roll their cigarette packs in their sleeves.
On top of all this, she wore her hair in a tight bun in the back --so tight that it squeezed her eyes taught so that she seemed to squint (or maybe she was squinting--I don't know). All this and her gullet swayed as she walked like a sheet of fresh jello. I say this not because I enjoy remanding or poking fun at overweight people, but because even thrift stores have large size clothing. I also recognize that our push in society for improving self-esteem and a positive self-image must have finally gone too far. No one that size should wear clothes that small. I feel sorry for women that look in the mirror and see themselves as fat when they are entirely too thin and skinny, and now I recognize that a woman like this must have a disorder in the opposite magnitude. Where I would see a very plus -sized woman; she must look in the mirror and see an entirely normal shaped female. End rant.....

I knew it would be today or tomorrow, just the time got messed up. I rescheduled a meeting for 9:15am, so I'd be ready to go at 10am this morning and of course, what happens, my phone goes nuts as the meeting begins. very difficult trying to act like I care about what people are talking to me about when I'm trying to add shit to my cart on a 5 year old company Blackberry. :( In the end, i couldn't get the transaction to go through. Once the dust settles on all this HTS stuff, I'm going to take count of who, what and where they helped me out and you all be getting a gift from Paulcatraz. I anticipate a couple more opportunities to grab some HTS goodies, but today was truly THE best chance and I shot myself in the foot.

Ditto on that. If it wasn't for Dolf's text, I damn sure wouldn't have been able to get anything.

I didn't expect it this early today either. I didn't think they would list stuff until the supervisors got in, but I guess they either decided to come in early, or let someone else give the OK.

I've got to say that you guys are all awesome, I love this collecting community and I truly appreciate, not just the camaraderie, but the genuine effort put forth to actually help each other out. let me say i often find myself agreeing with Lo's opinions and I think he has good taste. you all may know my recent jabbing at the Nolan Bat-verse....I'm not a huge fan. Lo gave some glowing reviews of DKR to which I assumed he was clearly in fanboy wank mode, but i never said as much.
I can happily say I still find myself often agreeing with Lo. Because DKR was the perfect ending to the trilogy and actually I will now like the rest of the films even better. It was what a third movie in a trilogy should be. It was amazing--in context to all 3 films. DKR did for the Nolan trilogy what spider-Man 3 did the exact opposite of for Spider-Man...made all the films better where Spidey 3 tore down the whole trilogy. Bravo!!! Now back to MU!

I am still working on getting the wife to go see DKR with me. It's no easy task convincing her to be away from the kids for 3 hours.

ML was up. Had them in my "meeting" cart, couldn't check out on the Blackberry. :( The only item that I didn't see in stock after I saw the "go go go" was the Hiss Tank...

here's my comic review for what i downloaded last night-
here be spoilers! Wolverine and the x-men: not bad- fun cartoony art as usual and a lighter story: they aren't even trying to make the phoenix 5 still out as good guys- they're obviously out-of-whack. this mega-event is so out of sync with itself though, the time line for which book is taking place when in the AvX storyline would have to be drawn using a spirograph. Avengers- red hulk goes to assassinate cyclops... the art sucked and ruined (for me) what could have been a cool read. if you skip it you're really not missing much other than rulk getting a big X on his chest Secret Avengers- one of my favorite reads last night. no more AvX nonsense. the MOE has opened their doors to anyone that wants in apparently. cameos from tons of bad guys as they have a whole city (country?) to hang out in. lots of old time marvel things going on here. Dark Avengers/Thunderbolts- another one i've been consistently happy with- the t-bolts trapped in the future is dragging a bit- and the 2000AD rip-off is still stewing and hopefully doesn't go too judge dredd next issue. the DA portion of the story is cool also with Cage and Skarr trying to keep tabs on what the govt team is REALLY up to. rhymes with smashsmashination what else did i read? downloaded Uncanny X-force but after reading the intro realized i didn't read last months issue and need to do that first. |
