Actually HR, the costume is his current X Force version. It has some kind of infared lense or something in it, hence the red eyes. Redundant for a guy with animal senses, but...dramatic none the less.
As for tall, this is a a guess. Since we as a movie-gong public have accepted Hugh Jackman (6'2") as Wolverine (5'3") I'd say they think that it's okay to do away with the restriction in heighth altogether. I'd rather he was shorter, but the figure is so KICK ASS that I just don't care. |

Ah, infrared lenses... I agree that seems unnecessary. Ah well what do I know? Man, I’m outta the comic loop.
As for the height, I was willing to accept it for the movie since it was a re-imagination of the series. Just like killing off Cyclops and Jean and Xavier. I'd just as soon the comics stay separate from the movies though. I suppose the toy does have to meet some compromise, however, since the figure will be used for the upcoming Origins toy line as well. Deep down though, I don’t like it. Not one bit. And yet, I preordered the figure last night. Damn it... |

I watched Marvel Legends with interest since it was the property of Toy Biz. I think they did better things for a lower price when it wasn't Hasbro - but taking marvel down to 1:18 scale is a dream come true for many fans.
I know I never bought any of the 6" figures (well, I have two but they were not bought at retail) - even though they used to be a really good deal at 7.99. Now I may have to bite the bullet even though they will be half the size for just one dollar less. I think I'll probably get some for custom fodder. I may grab a couple of the essential characters to leave unmodified - such as Spider Man and Green Goblin to go with their 6" cousins. Oh - and I forgot to mention. If you guys think G.I. Joe or SW are bad about repaints and re-packs this line is going to be a smorgasbord of them since almost everybody wore skin tight spandex... but that's fine for the subject matter as far as I'm concerned - I'll only need to buy the ones I find on clearance and repaint them. That's why it's such a solid financial decision for a toymaker and so popular with customizers.

there is a marvel universe 3 3/4" thread around here somewhere, but it seems to be lost in the sea of toyark posts.
as for wolverine, i think its cool but also agree it should be shorter. i might see if i can make a hybrid between this new line and the superhero showdown toybiz line. i'm already convinced that i can swap the gloves, boots, and maybe head of captain america so my MU version will NOT be ultimate.
