I've got to disagree. It seemed like Vonner really cared about the line and was focused on bringing out some great stuff.
When Stall and crew took over, it was obvious that 6" was their baby. We just got the table scraps. |

I said it elsewhere in a longer post, but the gist of it is the market told Hasbro they're willing to pay $20 for ONE 6" figure. They probably make a killing on Legends, even if some of the figures get clearanced out.
The breaking point for mass market 4", regardless of POA is $10. Even if they'd sell more 4" figures at $10, maybe they don't consider it enough profit. Or maybe the people in charge really aren't that passionate about the scale, so they don't care to make it work. Maybe both. I personally think they'd kill off Star Wars 4" if they knew they didn't have to make another Falcon for the next few movies.

Frankly I don't see the big fuss. 90% of the new ML reveals I already have them in this scale. Now I know you all are clamoring for obscure characters that probably appeared in a one shot comic or something. But as a mainstream collector, I feel like my collection is more or less complete ( I have about 275 figures).

--------------------------- What was the price of a GI JOe figure in 2009? $7-8? Even that was pretty high back then. 2007 Joes were what $6? $5? Let's ignore that to demonstrate a point. What was it in 2013-2014? $12-13. . . . . . . really? Even just using the Rise of Cobra price we got $12/$8= 150% the price of 2009 Gi Joe. Oh boy, so 50% minimum price increase divided by what? 5 years? About 10% a year, so double digit price inflation when inflation in the U.S. is 2% and salary increases even less than that? So they expect us to keep buying with that sort of price increase? While reducing the quality and reducing the POA. That's just a disaster waiting to happen and it did. |

You're not far off. $10 is about the max you can charge for a 4" figure BECAUSE the price has not followed inflation for a long time. The price increases are simply too high to be sustained by ANY economy because salaries don't increase that way. . . . . .

As for the fuss, like JOE, fans want their scale/series to continue than get axed for an indefinite period.

That's a top five Marvel villain that never got made. The equivalent would be not releasing a Lex Luthor in a D.C. line of several hundred characters (I understand that the Kingpin would require a new mold whereas a potential Luthor would require fewer newly molded parts; I am talking impact in their respective universes). Again, I understand the cost concerns with the Kingpin, but to start this line and fail to deliver such an important character goes beyond negligence. It is...I actually lack a word that is powerful enough yet doesn't come across as hyperbolic. |

The line just feels unfinished or off to me because of the odd buck usgae. Like, the definitive Captain America figure shouldn't have been on the Jim Lee Cyclops buck. It was a great mold and felt less lanky than the previous skinny buck, but they needed a similar, bigger one for guys like Cap. Legends seems to have a much better handle on their use of bucks, and a broader library to work from. If the line is being "rested" to handle that, it would be worth it in my opinion.

IMO there are lots of characters that were done in this line over the years that could be done better. The scale, quality and articulation is all over the place from 2009 - 2017. Hopefully if they bring it back it will have direction and planning that make it a quality SA line.
If they want more money out of this line or any line the quality and consistency has to be there. |
