just to clarify a little bit more on that. The Henkei ( takara/tomy) is the Japanese line. The Henkei figures themselves are the same since they use the same mold, they just have superior paint apps and details when compared to the US/Hasbro counterparts but they do come at a steeper cost, almost triple what the US guys cost. the only Henkei I own is the Megatron from the first round of classics since hes in his original grey and black color scheme. To me, the cost just does not justify re buying them all at $25-30 a pop for a deluxe when I can get them for $10 in the store but that is a personal preferrence..

Yeah, you really need to pay attention with the Henkei/Classics/Universe. For example, Classics Astrotrain is white, Henkei is the original G1 dark gray/purple. Universe Powerglide is white in American but he's the correct maroon in Japan. You have to pick which versions you like the best. If you're just starting out it's confusing as hell.
I've been a TF fan since the beginning in 1984, I really don't envy somebody just getting started. Also keep in mind, Transformers are a million times more expensive than GI Joe. The stuff in the stores right now ain't so bad but the older stuff goes $$$HIGH$$$. You can still get vintage GI Joe vehicles complete with the box for close to the original 80's retail price. I just got a H.I.S.S. II MIB off ebay for $20.50. You can't do that with Transformers. So if you ever wanna go back & get some old vintage G1 figures be prepared to pay ridiculous prices. |

I used to collect Transformers back in the early to mid 80s and bought a few re-issues about 5 years, but they don't appeal to me anymore. The articulation is just not there. The toys are better left in vehicle form.
I do however want to get redone Transformer classics and the Universe line seems to be the equivalent to the Joe 25th. Anyone know if there will be a Transformers 25th line (or is it the Univserse 2.0 line)? |

imo the holy grail of all transformers black hand gun megatron special 16 the frist issue, not the re issue. i dont even think the re issue is out yet and i know only a few 1000 ever were made, this is my favorite that i owen. other than my mp transformers also black megatron cost a small fourtune and that was at almost 5 years ago.

Just to let ya know, tfw2005.com is the sister site to this website. Alot of people from there also post here, like me! That site is very similar to this one. It has some good reviews and feedback, plus some funny motherfuckers!

My biggest problem with the Hasbro line is them constantly dropping the ball on paint schemes. Astrotrain, Powerglide and Cyclonus come to mind.
