Admiral Toys, whom in my opinion makes the best 1:18 scale planes out there in terms of quality, articulation and detail, have suggested and hinted that they may make ground crew, I believe. I cannot remember exactly the conversation. I remember that they said that they are overhauling the figures for the planes that they have produced as they are horrible.
Also, 21C had planned to do a WWII ground crew for their Legends of Aviation series before they got into their mess (thanks to Wal-Mart for killing this industry): Last edited by Starfighter; 03-31-2009 at 03:59 PM.. |

Are they blamed because of the way they insist on dictating terms regarding the product lines they carry, or for another reason?

Mind you, 21st must shoulder some of the weight with their questionable model choices. |

The Admiral Toys A-1 Skyraider and SBD Dauntless seem to be a must. Plus, they have said and pretty much confirmed that an A-10 will come out within the next 3 years, if not by them, by another company.

A 1:18 A-10? A realistic, to scale, properly painted and detailed A-10 within the next 3 years? You best not be teasing me...

Admiral all but confirmed that it'll be Bbi.
Skyraider will probably be a pass, Dauntless definitely will because i don't do PTO. |

I sincerely don't believe that. I think it relates back around to what is a toy and what is a collectible. If i had purchased a 21st century product in a Wal-mart toy aisle for my son and brought home only to find it would not hold up to his play, i would be extremely upset and never buy another product.
Now, my son has several hundred dollars of XD, but he knows how to take care of it. He is careful and delicate, but most kids aren't that careful with their toys. Most 21st century stuff i've purchased has been broken in the package, missing parts, and extremely delicate to the touch. Wal-mart just clearanced that which did not sell. The 21st century stuff is nice, but kids want newer, more recognizable agressive aircraft. The figures are nice, but in comparison to action figures in the same aisle they are unexciting and unarticulated. I've had to return 25% of the figures because the joints have been stuck too. It's 21st own fault for pursuing retailers that they had no business being a part of in the first place. Goes back to what i said. They should call thesmelves 21st Century Collectibles if they manage to restructure.

Yes, a 1:18 A-10. As Konigstiger stated, AT has pretty much confirmed it will be from BBi. It is nice that AT and BBi are working together to not duplicate. The 21C competition against AT had delayed the F-4 Phantom II (It seems very possible that we are still going to get it.) I wish that FOV would listen or take a page from them and not duplicate the 1:18 items. They have not made 1 item that is not already made in 1:18. It may be a different variation, but it still is the same.
