I recently picked up this vintage Elite Force figure (circa 2005) off of Amazon (sold by SmallJoes); it was only $7 and shipping was free! I'm guessing this figure wasn't very popular.
However, as this old style of figure is wont to do, one of the joints broke. Specifically, the right ankle. It was fused, and snapped off when I tried to rotate it. Luckily, the break wasn't disastrous--there's enough peg left on the bottom of the leg to fit fairly snugly into the foot socket, and the foot doesn't typically pop off--even when I rotate it--unless I'm applying pressure the wrong way. So what I'm trying to decide is, is it worth taking a chance to try to repair it? If so, how what would be the best method? I don't want to just superglue the foot back on and hope the broken pieces reconnect, and risk losing mobility if that doesn't work. I've been thinking of trying the pin method, but I've already tried jabbing the stuck portion inside the boot a few times (with pins that were unfortunately too large for the post on the leg), and I'm not sure a pin will fit into the center smoothly anymore. Is there another method that might work, or is the pin method the best bet? (I found some pins at Michael's that look like they might work, but I've balked at buying them so far because they're only sold in bundles of 150, which is way more than I need right now). Anyways, the figure will survive as-is, but I'd love a bit of advice on whether it's worth attempting to fix, or if I should leave it be. |

BBI of the 2005 circa were way better. Nowdays vehicles are crap. Their Black Hawk is the state of the art of the toys.

One option, if you are so inclined to try is to insert a small screw into the bottom end of the peg. The screw of the head should be slightly larger in diameter than the peg. This sort of mimics a mushroom head peg. You may need to dremel out the bottom of the hole just a bit. If you do, just take a tiny amount at a time.
EDIT: It also just occurred to me that I have a 3D printer, and perhaps I can print out the "head" of the peg and superglue it onto the existing portion. That might work too, and is probably less likely to cause damage than inserting a screw. Either way, thank you for the idea! Quote:
I guess the explanation is that they have doubts about how well a $150 toy helicopter would sell nowadays, but actually, the market has become much more friendly towards expensive collectibles in the last 10 years. The existence of stuff like Marauder and Boss Fight (not to mention the damn G.I. Joe FSS) proves that. Maybe BBi will wise up and start making more collectible-grade vehicles again. Necro..
IF you have a dremel and a donor figure just remove the offending piece, hollow out the original location of the offending piece, test fit and replace it with a donor part and then super glue it in place. I've done this "a million times". With that said i'm really impressed with BBi's range of head sculpts. Last edited by Plasticfan; 12-30-2016 at 07:03 AM.. |

I couldn't find a 21st century toys thread so figured I would ask here: Does anyone have one of the Huey? Apache? I am considering purchasing one or the other. I am leaning towards the Huey because it probably isn't as big and easier to store.
How many of the new sculpt figures can it hold? What is the Huey's size in comparison to the Tomahawk? |

Thanks! Sorry for the confusion between the two helicopters and the brands that built them.

Easy to do if you haven't seen them up close.

I have been eyeing that huey for a long time, it is so awesome. Not to be a ball buster but is there any chance you can take a pic with a Joe beside it.
