I just received the new Elite Force MLRS today and I can visually confirm that the cab opens in at least three spots (passenger roof hatch, driver's front screen, and driver's door). I haven't checked to see if there is a passenger door or not yet, but I suspect there is not.
It looks a little on the small side, but not bad overall for play or for diorama background usage. It does look a bit bare despite the paint apps, but it has some weathering and details painted on which is certainly better than nothing. I'd call it a win for $20. |

I got it from Amazon, $19.99 plus tax.

I just got my 1/18 Elite Force MLRS (..missile truck) in yesterday. Good: It has a lot of details, the drivers door, passengers door and top hatch canopy open. The missile turret rotates and goes up & down. Bad: none of the missiles are removable; they are molded in.

To supplement ZAPs photos I took some today next to the BBI Humvee and Tank. The MLRS was smaller than I expected but it is not as small as the M113. In fact if the M113 would have come in this size I would have been happy. Its a good buy for $20.

To be honest, the real MLRS is not that big of a vehicle so it's hard to tell what it actually would look like 1:18. This is pretty good, I like it. I wish the side windows were painted black like the prototype but oh well.

According to the Wikipedia page you linked, the real deal is 22.5 feet long. Based on that, this toy should be 15" long to be true 1:18 scale. The toy actually measures about 11.25" long. So it's really scaled down a further 26% making it about 1:24 scale. As I said, it's a "little" on the small side. It still works, but I think it's noticeably not 1:18.
I just thought that would be impractical. Just happy I got a Joe scaled one now. Source>> M993/M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System Carrier Vehicle in the Bradley Vehicle section and on the MLRS wiki. |
