Because the figures are cheap. If they tried to produce figures sculpted and accessorized like Hasbro's, I'm guessing they would be equally expensive. I'm also guessing a significant portion of the target market of PTE is selling to Joe fans. Joe has figures, why try to compete with that? What they most usefully can provide is vehicles different from what we already have.
But PTE has the unique advantage of not needing to give licensing fees to any company for producing real life vehicles because it's based in China, the no one cares about copyrights and you can do whatever country. (Also the country where the internet sucks and you can't do anything useful on the internet while in the Firewall of China, but that's a different story) Also, they don't produce new vehicles every year, they produce lots of the same vehicles year after year, thus increasing their margins for the molds, while decreasing their profit margins per vehicle, so they can sell them cheap. |

I'm sure everyone can agree PTE figures are by far better than the True Heroes ones.

for the PTE figures, I find that Doubtful given.
That doesn't sound right either. Even if China has no interest in protecting it's own Intellectual Property or the IP belonging to people of other nations (which they do in fact have), the moment they import infringing items into countries like the UK, Canada, or the US, all that stuff would be subject to seizure at customs. When they made toys they have to either put enough variance between the real world vehicles according to local law or license permission from the IP holder. Quote:
But they produce far even less variety in their figures. All that changes even from vehicle to vehicle with the figures is the headsculpt and paint. The bodies paint is just camo, which they can apply quite sloppily. There are maybe what? six or seven different face sculpts with a few different helmets moulded in?
Goldbug, That's because the lion's share of the TH stuff is Chap Mei. They've never had great figures, and like PTE were stronger on the vehicle front. They've had some interesting features, though, working holsters (yes, before Hasbro) and removable bits. |

(haven't forgotten about the blackbird pic I owe you ;) ) Quote:
3 or 4 each of helmeted and boonie hat-festooned heads, 2 or 3 wet suit heads, probably 3-4 bare heads, then oddball stuff like flight helmet and gas mask head sculpts. Maybe a half-dozen different torso sculpts?
Nevertheless, there is nowhere near the tooling involved compared to Hasbro..

.................. I'll check the American box when I get home from Vacation. I'm looking at the Chinese version of the box and I can't find the official Humvee trademark or any trademarks for vehicle companies on them. Then again, it's in Chinese.....

It may be entirely possible that I'm remembering Bbi's boxes, those do have official marks.

I checked my PTE tank box and other stuff, and quite a few don't have trademarks on them, so I guess I was wrong and right? My mistake. The chinese box, I have no clue. Since everything is written in chinese, can't read it. Least the A-10 doesn't require chinese. >.> |
