Lanard used to be awesome; a Joe fan's best friend, in fact. I know many of us lament increased prices and wish they were still what they were, but many also seem to forget changing economy means 'lower priced back then' doesn't mean 'cheap back then.' Joes may have been cheaper than they are, but they were by no means cheap for your average household income.
So, like I imagine many of you did, I totally used Lanard's CORPS figures (which WERE cheap considering you got like a 6 pack of them for the price of two or three Joes) to supplement my Joes. And the designs actually weren't bad. I'll even admit some of my favourite weapons came from CORPS, not Joes. But man... how the mighty have fallen! They still do make decent cheapy vehicles, but their figures and equipment in the 3-3/4 scale have gotten progressively worse since they stopped manufacturing the O-ring figures I remember having. Now their products are easy passes for me, and I imagine for any kid trying to find cheaper figures to supplement their current Joe collection. If Lanard really wants to bring it up a notch, they'll start using Modern Joe style articulation. Even if the figures are a bit cheaper on the quality front and cut out a point of articulation here or there, I'd bet plenty of people would grab them up by the handful for customs and just to include with Joes as new/homegrown characters. Make it so, Lanard. |

I agree with Damien. When they were compatible they were nice to have around. These new ones are complete crap.

I bought the current yellow SUV vehicle at Wal*Mart this weekend for $10 and a can of Krylon Fusion and now I have a C.A.V.: Crimson Assault Vehicle. It's nice...

The Corps! vehicles are awesome but the figures are a whole different story. What is Lanard waiting for to make them in 25th style?

I was looking at some of these figures the other day and was wondering how compatible the weapons and vehicles were with the 25th Joes....

The figures are only a dollar each, or a two pack two dollars each. I think that the accessories are good for customs, figures for canon fodder, and the vehicles are good-ish and cheap. They don't come close to being as awesome as a GI Joe, but what do you expect from a two dollar retail item. Personally I buy a whole bunch of corps stuff, I'd love to find the big vehicles I wouldn't mind a few of those to customize. I prefer the new one to the old ones. the old ones were craptstically out of proportion and quality was worse. I can't believe there's actually going to be a comic. they might make better figures but it also might mean higher prices.
