Is it all AT-TEs that have this problem, or just some of them?
I'm planning to get one sometime in September or October 1st, and am hoping there it's only some of them that have the problem.
All right, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these?! Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

I have the same problem with my AT-TE, but it's not a big deal if you adjust the legs so that the majority of the weight rests on the fore and aft legs. Not all six legs touch the ground equally, which is why the middle two legs pop off when they are slightly lower than the others. It's similar to the legs of the AT-AT, where two legs seem to be holding most of the weight and the others seem to slide underneath the weight, but the detail overall is awesome and worth the dough!

Use the 3/16 plastic tubing fix, it works better than anything Hasbro could do at this point. Go to Lowes, but 1 foot of 3/16ths plastic tubing for $0.20.
Cut it to be flush with the end of the peg, push it into the center of the peg. Once you attach the legs they are never coming off without some force. The tubing also reinforces the pegs so that they can't bend to be broken, and it is movable enough to allow the legs to be positioned. The tubing allows the two central legs to bare the brunt of the weight, as it should be. The fore and aft legs should be used for balance and movement. All the legs can now withstand the weight of the entire vehicle. They won't fall off when you look at it cross-eyed either.

AT-AT came twice after the original toy release. However you can't flood the market with too many "big" vehicles with hefty prices. We get two now because one is for the "Legacy" line and the other is for the "Clone Wars" movie. If these do decent, we may see a redone AT-AT.

Hasbro has already stated that the next vehicle to get the "BMF" treatment is going to be the Slave 1. No word on whether this would be Jango Fett's Slave 1 from Ep2 or Boba's from ESB. I'm pretty sure that whichever one they release first, the other version will follow soon after.
The AT-AT is the next one they are considering, but it is completely dependent on how well the Falcon and AT-TE sell.
The cool thing about all this is that Star Wars has traditionally been the "guinea pig" for new ideas at Hasbro. Galactic Heroes, Titaniums, "vintage style" packaging, Battle Packs, etc. So if the Falcon and AT-TE do well, then that success should trickle down into the GI Joe line.

One of my walmarts had like 15 AT-TEs and 12 BMFs at launch. went there yesterday and they were down to 3 AT-TEs and 4 BMFs.
Target is running a sale on Star Wars this week and you can get the AT-TE for $80 at Walmart with a price adjust.
Target sold out of their original 2 AT-TEs they had as well as the 4 BMFs. Not to mention the entire figure area was cleaned out with but 2-3 figures hanging.
I was going to get the AT-TE this week but just picked up a bunch of BATS, Serpents, 2 wave 5 CP sets, & another set of vehicles.
