I saw this recently in person. When I saw pics online, and discovered he lacked a right elbow joint, I decided I wouldn't buy it. Lack of clear windows didn't help either. However in person it looks great. I never like it when a gimmick takes away articulation, and this figure is no exception. Nonetheless, I can bear with it in this case, even though I am dissapointed. The detail, the sheer size, and the presentation are nice, I like the box, you truly know you are getting a collector's item by the aesthetic of the box. Nothing too flashy. Honestly, I don't even think this item was aimed at the action figure crowd. I think its aimed more towards the gadgetry crowd, as they have the money for this, and this would appeal more to them than even the older transformers collector. Hasbro has us covered with the $10 concept camaro Bumblebee. I think Ultimate Bumblebee was meant to have all these electronic gimmicks, I can see this being sought after for xmas. Its good enough for kids, who might be amazed at its gimmicks, and for the gadget crowd who likes all things electronic and neat and finally have a transformer geared towards them. It must be fun to play with, since its user responsive.
I think inevitably we will get high end collectors items from the Transformers movie line. Maybe next year or before the sequel, if not for the sequel. I can see alternators and a few masterpieces. So our time will come. At the end of the day, it seems like Ultimate Bumblebee is a neat toy to tinker with. Any thoughts? |

the more i look at the Ultimate BumbleBee, the more i see it as a RoboSapien electronic toy.
i mean seriously, look at the size of that thing. and it's even complicated when you transform it into vehicle mode. you have to detach the doors and whatnot. it looks deceiving in the pictures (online) than seeing it physically. so i passed it up, even for a collector like me. i dunno, it looks like Hasbro was testing its waters with this one. so i guess there's not a lot of these Ultimate BB. and the more I see it on Target stores, the more I look at it as BB with jugs. :lol |

I saw the UBB from the pics at first and thought it was ok. The 2nd time was in person at the SDCC '07 and was an eye opener. Then when I saw UBB at Wal-Mart and I was impressed! So I bought it. About a month later, a friend from Wal-Mart said he has a case of UBB (2pcs) and I bought that too. I'll use two for different mode and the 3rd for personal collection and to be kept in MISB.
Overall, it a good model and definitely an iconic figure! |

My hatred of all things Bayformers extends to this as well. I will keep my Generation 1, Alternators/Masterpiece Transformers proudly on display without their ugly cousins, Bayformers.

Robosapien was the first thing I thought of too, topnotch. I think it is Hasbro's way of showing up Robosapien by going a step further by creating an animatronic transformer.
