i mean seriously people. Are we so debased that when someone presents something that we dont agree with rather than giving a logical rebutal we stoop to name calling and insults? Maybe the base parts were reused back then but they also added little details that made them look ENTIRELY different. I E dukes chest was not used for damn near ever other figure then liek it is now. For example spirit viper flint general hawk in the SRO packs. Flash was used for the hiss driver or the avac or tripwire and probably blowtorch. Theres a comparison lack of forethought with this new line as opposed to the original line where the figures LOOKED obviously different as opposed to now where they just keep blatantly reusing parts and not putting for the affeort to make them look different.

Given the cost of toy production these days and the fact that the line simply isn't as big as it was back in the 80's, it's probably down to a choice between a new version of a character using reused parts or no new version at all. Speaking for myself, I'll take the former option, especially as the process has been successful for the most part (not that this is related to "quality control" at all, but...)
Wait a minute, I said I was staying out of this one!

I am pretty sure that both sides of the arguement here are guilty of name calling, but I might not have seen some of the posts. No one here is innocent, and perhaps people need to take a step back... maybe thread closing or what have you.
And if you don't think there's rampant mold resuage in the 82-94 stuff, YoJoe.com's figures archive would like to have a word with you. I did get a chuckle out of Mattel being owned by Hasbro (LAWL.) and Batman toys being made by Hasbro though... maybe we should complain about Mattel here instead?

BTW: Vipers all new (and it wouldn't have matter if it WAS Duke's chest since it's completely covered by his vest), Spirit uses Shipwrecks chest and i'd argue General Hawk in the SRO packs doesn't count because it's an exclusive, and 98% of the time exclusives will ALWAYS be repaints, that's they way Hasbro has done it across all lines since pretty much the first SEARS exclusive Joes.

what the hell ill throw my 2 cents in for fun.
first let me share a short story. my step mom used to work for a canning company back in the day. she used to tell me that when the vegetables they process come off the line del monte got first dibs. then came another big brand (i forgot the name), then another and by the time it was done about a half dozen companies just had there product processed, packed and shipped from one canning place. morale of this story is two fold. one generic brands (they made up 3 of the 6 of the companies) came from the same place that the name brands come from (and thus are the same damn thing). there i just saved you money on your grocery bill. your welcome. second, hasbro, mattell, ect get there supplies from the same people in china. they along with others hire a company to process everything and they buy the finished product. i dont think its too far fetched to assume a factory in china does the work for more then one toy company. that being said i was at walmart the other day and saw some spirits and a snow job and a couple cobra commanders (light blue with the helmet) sitting there. i dont have a spirit yet and picked it up to look at it and saw that the face on it was jacked. the knife was all crooked, it looked like crap. i pick the snow job up and notice the crome on the gi joe logo on the card is all scratched up. needless to say i passed. i was shocked. ive been out of the new lines since end of last year and i cant believe thats the quality they are coming with. now if i find a spirit with a face that doesnt look like putty and whoes blades are straight then im all for getting it. but i cant see me dropping 7 bucks for a figure that looks like a dog chewed on it before it was sealed. so yes i agree QC should be addressed. if the toys were 4.88 still i wouldnt complain but there up to 7 bucks and rumored to go higher. give us our moneys worth for crying out loud. i for one am fine if they cut back the waves to like 3 or 4 a year if it means the quality will be better. but hey thats just me. also that carded error is kinda cool and thanks for linking that. im watching it

I open figures. If I don't like the way a figure came out I will customize it to be what I envision. That's part of the fun to me. But for my MOC collection, I'm more discerning.
