I think Windmill IS a good choice...but why FUNSKOOL Windmill? Why? The only answer is so they can sell me regular Windmill later, at a higher price, because I'm the one who loves Windmill. Just me. This is targeted specifically at me. This is a personal attack.
I am also the one Joe Fan who likes Downtown, so.

Probably everyone. I mean, there's what, 5 people on staff maybe? Maybe 4 now that Pete's gone? These are the folks that defend every bad decision with sell-through success to a captive audience and prune anything even remotely critical from their super-sterile forum. It's about as insular as you can get.

Rampart doesn't look so bad. And WORMS only suffers from oversized shoulder pads.
I kinda feel bad for you, Irid. You know, for liking Windmill. Here's a better looking custom. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ll-custom.html Last edited by Hicks_Royel; 05-27-2017 at 09:06 PM.. |

I have no problem getting a windmill, as long as it's arah windmill. I love any arah fig they put out, but nothing funskool. I, too, wonder who thought the funskool version was a good id3a.

I want to. I like the fact that we're getting new builds for the two army builders, and that the Cobra Commander is an homage to the "Mickey Mouse" one.
But the CC torso is also the old diaper crotch one from the early days of the 25th, and that's just baffling. Not to mention paying a premium for essentially a piece of cardboard, and not even an old piece of cardboard at that. They couldn't have at least made it from styrene?

Now that you mention it, styrene would've been a pretty cool way to update the concept. As for the Commander, your guess is as good as mine.

Not going to post this in the con thread since I'll get eaten alive by the Stockholm syndrome crew, but I am 100% okay with Hasbro shutting down the toy line in favor of a new unified direction, even if that direction is TBD. Joe needs a breather. And hopefully, when things swing back in gear, Hasbro knocks it out of the park. They need to get the kids back, which will be difficult in an age where every 10 year old has a smartphone it seems. But it's the only way to sustain the brand beyond the increasingly decrepit claws of the nostalgia crew. And maybe once that foothold is regained, we can get thrown a bone or two. I mean, look at Transformers. It limped along after G1, going from theme to theme with varying levels of success, but nothing like the original series/line. Then, after 20 years or so, HasTak unveiled Classics, Binaltech/Alternators, and Masterpiece Prime, clear love letters to the G1 fans. Who ate it up... but we weren't enough. So those beloved lines got cancelled (MP wasn't really a line at that point, just a few one-offs here and there) so Hasbro could refocus on a new movie... which was bad, but made a shitton of money and spawned now four sequels and even more shittons of money. And you know what? G1 fans got more and better toys than any had hoped to dream. My shelves are overflowing with high quality representations of the characters I grew up with. It's amazing, and it's all thanks to the success of shitty movies.
Of course, the ARAH revival also took a break as Hasbro concentrated on doing the same with Joe. Sadly, that movie was even shittier than Bayformers. And worse, it didn't catch on with the general public. Which led to several years of unfocused meandering, where every hit with the established fans was soon shoved aside for a new media push. And they couldn't even time the media to the toys. It was a mess. So it seems to me that going on hiatus is a really good idea. Line up those ducks all nice and neat and execute a clear, focused plan instead of muddling about. It might not work, but it's better than plodding to a slow death. And (that went a lot longer than I was planning) I am 200% okay with getting FunPub out of the picture. They're a fucking cancer. |
