I bought one of each of the Marissa, Old Snake, and Sub Viper sets, and shipping was $16. I'm hoping to get some of that back by selling off the BATs. The prices and shipping are both ridiculous, but the club has zero impetus to change either, because schmucks like me keep buying. If this was a normal market I'd take a stand and hope for change, but it's very captive. I either play their game, or do without. If too many choose to go without, the club fails as a business and then nobody gets anything. I have come to the conclusion that there is no fixing FunPub. Too many overt demonstrations of brash hubris, and flat out denial of culpability for even the most basic of things. They will simply continue on as they have been until such a time that they lack the support to sustain operations, and then it will be the fandom's fault for withdrawing support.
There will eventually be a tipping point for me. I'm hoping I don't hit it before the rational end of the ME body style, mostly because I can sense that the end is looming. And I'm okay with that. Next spring I'll have the same internal argument I always do: throw away money on poorly painted club junk and potentially miss the closing stages of an era, or swallow the bullshit and stick around until the end. Hooray cognitive dissonance! |

Yeah, the five-point heroes of the Retaliation line were my "well, if they're gonna get lazy with the whole mess" way out.
Just don't do what I've done and offset one form of [addiction] for another. Though I do think my over all buck is stretched a little further in Mega Bloks line. I mean, I get tired of the tank and I just build a crappy base with it. It's like a Big Lots Change-Robo-Super Knight Awesome! in that regard. Just look at this rolling fortress of over compensation and tell me it's not brilliant: Last edited by Hicks_Royel; 08-06-2015 at 05:39 AM.. |

I mean, of course, OF COURSE I decided to click "ship" on my BBTS 2 packs, reasoning that SURELY I could find the Silent Strike set at retail, only to have BBTS send me 2 emails in a row. The first saying my 2 packs had shipped. The second being that the Silent Strike sets were coming in tomorrow.
Of course I did that. Why wouldn't I do that? There's still a chance I'll find Silent Strike at my TRU tomorrow morning and beat the preorder, but...ehh. So, Hellion, I hear what you're saying. I do. And like I said, I'm totally in for FSS 4 and I've swallowed all of that crap so far. And will I buy the Dreadnok vehicle plus Heartwrencher they talked about? Hell yes I will. But I can't drop 60 bucks for one figure plus one crappy Retaliation bike I already have. Just can't.

Of course I missed the 3 packs the day they came in stock at the TRU 5 minutes from my house. Of course I did, even though I obsessively checked for the 2 weeks leading up to their appearance. To the extent that I was worried that the TRU morning shift was going to call the cops, thinking I was some kind of predator. I just didn't bother today because I figured, bah, no way they'll be there. Then the DE thread said they were, I ran over, empty shelf. BAH.

I broke down and ordered the two packs from EE, since I don't have a car right now and can't drive around looking for them.
On a related note, anyone need any of these? $15 is what I paid.

If anyone happens to find this set in the wild, remember your pal Hicks and how for retail and the cost of shipping [considerably more than reasonably priced cup of coffee] he'll be happy to buy them from you.

Dammit, Hicks, I wish you hadn't shown us that. Now I want a bunch of those sets.
