Bombstrike reveal. Tomorrow is not going to go well.
No matter what they do, it's going to be a Chevette with the club pasting a "Cor" over part of the name and pretending it's the real deal. (I almost posted in the reveal thread, but honestly that thing scares me. way too much angst and fanboy rage in there)

In the wake of Bombstrike's reveal, that thread has become downright scary.
I subbed for the FSS 3 this afternoon.

Yeah, I skimmed some of the responses. Lots of constructive opinions and then lots of bs to go along with it.
For me the vest is a bit blah. An LJ torso, or Helix, would have been better. The camo is too busy or just too dark/light contrasty. Meh, I'll make a custom someday on my own.

There are some fucked up people on this board. Some of them are very vocal about how fucked up other people are. I shouldn't be so disgusted as I'm a cynical bastard with low expectations for human beings in general, but goddamn.
Anyway, Bombstrike and CGI look okay. Not great, not terrible, just okay. I'm going to sub today or tomorrow most likely. I was hoping the club would take its time releasing v1s of the Night Force set so it doesn't feel like that purchase was totally wasted. Ah well. |

Have you seen the Gigapower figures, Kia-guy? They're every bit as impressive as FT's stuff. And taller.
So, how about this idea of Hasbro selling figures individually by the order? Being able to but a troop builder by the case? That may even be able to help curb online retail mark-ups. I love me some individual figures! (if Joe is ever sold again...) Quote:
Since we're talking Transformers, I picked up the Headmasters series the other day. I'm utterly shocked at how soft and washed out it looks. I didn't think the old Rhino G1 releases looked all that hot, and was expecting Shout Factory to be an upgrade considering they came out over a decade later. The subtitles are also weak, with a thin white font and poor formatting. If I had paid more than the $20 I spent, I would have been pissed.
OH, here's a PS - do we know the next free fig from the club that comes with membership? Last edited by Kaisugi; 06-26-2014 at 08:37 PM.. |

Honestly, the 3 Japanese unreleased formers story arcs were my holy grail for years and I preordered it from Shout directly, paid full price and don't regret a penny. If I were to pick up a set in Japan, it would cost well upwards of $1,000 unless I got lucky (DVDs and CDs in Japan are f'ing expensive). Considering the only other option was pure shyte ebay versions, we got it good. Video and audio are fine for an 80s tv show, and if they used a UK PAL version for their masters that would explain some of it. I've heard the subtitles are not great, and yeah, they aren't prefect, but I understand 80% of the Japanese so it's all good. Some of the jokes just don't translate, the timing is also hard to fit the "real dialog" in the time it takes to be read. annnnnyway.... I'll just say "HEAD ON!" and move on
In any case, I'm glad you were able to get your grails for a good price. (That's one of the reasons I fell out of the habit - and yes, it was a habit, a really bad one - of buying anime: some of the heavy hitters like Bandai decided that they wanted to apply the Japanese pricing model to the US. And shortly after that the anime market in the US fell in on itself. I'm fairly certain no tears were shed in the board rooms of the various production houses. ) I'm glad these weren't of more than mild interest to me, though. Had I been really exited about them, I would have been very disappointed with the end result. Quote:
I wish I was making this up. There's also a repainted SHARC with Sub-Viper, but I don't think it's a freebie. More along the lines of the Havocat this year. |

That's just ..... just.... wrong.
I was almost thinking of actually doing the FSS3, thinking that the requirement to join the club to subscribe just meant a 14th figure, but no, not gonna do it (that and our freezer tanked on us last night, had to throw out $100 of fish and meat. Bah!!!)

I backed the BFS Kickstarter in the final hour. Watching the total roll over $400k was like sniping an ebay auction where everyone wins.
Thank you quirk-of-calendar for making July a 3-paycheck month. |
