I would imagine that kind of thing goes on a lot in the specialty retailer space. We just don't get to see most of it since the slap-fighting goes on behind the scenes. That said, still a dick move.
I'm torn when it comes to BBTS because I know they do less than savory crap, like the above, and stuff like clearing out local stores of stock, especially exclusives. But I can say that there has never been a problem that they didn't resolve to my satisfaction. So it kind of sucks. |

And since this is going to a new page, new topic.
Hicks, FD, various TF-minded folks... I've got a pretty decent deal on the table to fill in the one blank in my Classics collection, plus cash, for MP Prowl. The problem is, or at least part of it, is that the one blank is G2 Ramjet. I am far from a completionist, but I've got a soft spot for seekers. That was the one indulgence I allowed myself when deciding what I was gonna pony up for... I could get seeker repaints without remorse. After the Botcon 2007 disaster (IMO anyway... Blue Ramjet != Dirge, plus having to deal with a certain arrogant someone from FP), I jumped on the Henkei TC, Dirge, and Thrust figures at BBTS prices as they came out. There was a bit of a pang when Hasbro eventually released them all domestically, especially since the decos were better than the TT ones. But I picked those up and put the TT versions on the trading block. I got Acid Storm and the better-looking Starscream (leaving poor Skywarp and Ramjet as the only ones with "edgy" wing stripes), and eventually the eye-bleed inducing SG Thundercracker. I bought the "Rainmaker" set from last Botcon. Which only left G2 Ramjet from the "official" releases. In the middle of all of that I got a new place with more room overall but less dedicated display area (which is all still unsettled even after a year and a half here). Takara started churning out kickass Masterpieces. There's been more Joe stuff released by FP than Hasbro lately. And with a few exceptions (hello Sandstorm!) the Classics-themed stuff has been uninspiring. FOC Shockwave was terrible. Hoist/TB felt more like checklist material than exciting in-hand. As much as I want to like Skids, it just looks... bland. (Hello irony!) I'm actually more excited for Dreadwing, a character I have zero attachment to (kinda like Sandstorm... coincidence?). So I'm left wondering where I stand. On one hand it feels like I'm collecting mediocre Generations figures more out of habit than desire. The Rainmakers and G2 Ramjet are seriously just checklist stuff... but it's stuff I like. I think. Most of my Classics have been out of sight since I moved. I know in there are a few gems that will make me smile when I bring them out. But I can't help but feel that the goofy-colored seekers and such are just extraneous (and expensive) filler that I'd be better off without. How much of that feeling is common sense, and how much of that is due to general apathy brought on by the current state of the line, and a rapid trend towards questionable affordability on the few other lines I collect? I simply don't know. The way I see it, I can cut the cord and try to unload my Rainmaker set (at a loss most likely... a loooot of unsold auctions on ebay) and not bother with G2 Ramjet. This option hinges on not having remorse later, say after setting up my Classics again. Or I can just get Ramjet out of the way and see what happens when circumstances change. If the fire is rekindled I'll be set. And if it's not, sell them then. And then there's the psychological issue of having a classics seeker and an MP involved in the same trade. Prowl is obviously in a different league as a figure, but the going rates for the two are comparable. So yeah, mulling my options. And admiring Alt Mirage with his new Reprolabels. I should have done this YEARS ago. These are sharp. Any and all thoughts are welcome. |

I have little interest in the G2 era toys anymore, so I can't help there. I honestly think that the upcoming iGear Seekers are better than anything Hasbro released under the Classics banner... And aside from Waspinator and Rhinox, the Generations stuff isn't that great.
But... if I were a Classics/Generations collector I'd cherry pick from all available options [including 3rd party] for the best of a character. Again, I cite iGear's seekers. Those things look great. And Mugan Vox is a perfect Soundwave short of not turning into a tapedeck. But if you use him as a Cybertronian version, he's fine. You know, short of that really tight swivel in the cannon support that's nearly twisted off on mine. |

If I was into BW I'd be all over that Rhinox. I grabbed one for my nephew and it looked pretty freakin sweet.
G2 I'm ambivalent towards. Ramjet was just OOOH SEEKER. Dreadwing was a convenient way to get the stealth Megatron mold without having to buy another Megatron. IMO, classics and 3P don't mix for me. Not saying the 3rd party stuff doesn't look good. Some of it is phenomenal. It's just that I see classics as cheap and fun. Going 3P, or even Takara, takes the "cheap" out of the equation. I made exceptions for Scrapheap, AM TC, and the Botcon Rainmakers so far, and upon reflection it didn't add enough to my enjoyment of my collection to be worth the price premium. Hence the novella of angst above. ^_^; |

I finally saw the Bruce Willis figure. How did they screw up the face so bad with just paint apps?

On a side note, one of my coworkers is Bruce Willis's cousin. Part of me is curious about if I could get my Colton figure signed. But most of me follows the advice in the above video. Last edited by Hellion42; 01-25-2014 at 04:13 AM.. |

Is it like a first relation cousin? I mean, heck, it's worth a shot... though if it looks anything like the one I decided to go back and pick up, I'd really ask this cousin if I could meet Bruce just so I can ask him if he thinks the figure look anything like him.
And, yes, I did go back and get it... the paint really makes it look like a co-worker here and I'm tempted to make a custom for prank purposes. |
