I'll shut up about it, promise. Till spring 2016 anyway.
So, uh, anyone manage to get in on the surprise in-stock on HTS? 3.5 and 4 all available. I was able to grab a couple of Night Vipers.

Nope, but then again I wasn't really trying. I preordered all that I needed, and haven't even opened any of them yet.

I can only imagine it's too late to worry about what HTS has in stock at this point. Which is fine... I needs me the money for a robotic triceratops anyhow.

So who's pumped for the second shipment of FSS figures?
I actually am super excited for Widescope, as I am all about the MP/SWAT Joes and would love a whole team of them (as it is there's just what, Law&Order, Shockwave, Mutt&Junkyard sorta, and now Widescope). Skull Buster, on the one hand, I would've loved it so much if they'd reused a combination of Range Viper and Shadow Tracker parts. On the other hand, painting a range viper in iridescent purple is so mid-80s Cobra faaaahbulous that I sorta dig it.

I think I'd've liked Skullbuster better had he been painted up like the Range-Viper from the Major Blood 2-Pack.
Wide-Scope looks too much like Shockwave. But he is still neat. Like Irid, I like the SWAT idea and collected the Night Force Shockwave for faceless troops. |

Hicks, good call on the Range/Rock Viper repaint. That would look pretty boss, provided it was, you know, actually painted. But I would keep that as just another Range Viper, and (in an ideal world) have a spare Shadow Tracker to turn into DDP Skullbuster. Missed opportunity'd.
I just wish I could be excited about these. I finally got around to opening my w3.5/4 figures and came away underwhelmed. The designs are still out of this world, but the execution is kneecapped by corner-cutting. And I know I can expect much the same from the FFS, except three times as expensive. Joecon registration will probably be in a few weeks, because it's such a fantastic time of year to ask your small, loyal following to cough up disposable income. I'm basically hoping I can do without the con figures this year. I mean, I've gone a year and a half without having Joes on display. There's nothing at retail, and Hasbro keeps shooting the brand in the face every chance it gets even though it's obvious that they have some designers who still give a crap. The club has those of us who still want to collect by the nuts and doesn't seem shy about squeezing. I've actually considered going the Hicks route and saying to hell with it, but if I stop collecting, I know I'll change my mind and end up having to pay more for the stuff I skipped in the interim. And I know from experience that selling it off is time-consuming and frustrating. But at least then there's no going back. Not without a lottery windfall at least. I've even gotten to the point where I've considered selling off my Alternators. Not for the money, since I'd be lucky to come out even on most of it, but just so I stop being depressed that they don't have a home. On a happy note, I picked up FOC Grimlock for my 4-year-old nephew as a Christmas present. He loves dinosaurs and Transformers. And Ninja Turtles, so he's getting the Playmates reissues I've had laying around. And Where's My Cow by Terry Pratchett. With any luck my brother-in-law will get the hint. |

Not to sound like your brother-in-law but what hint?
As for saying, "to hell with it..." I've only really stopped collecting, I still haven't sold it off. Expect the five figures you have. And I do miss the rare chances I get to actually "play with my toys..." [Note: I seem to have two photobucket accounts for some reason.] Edit: Hellion, I don't suppose you'd be up for some more photoshopping? I just need to decide what I want done to it. In order:
It's a book about a character in another book who reads the book to his son every night. In other words, turn off the fucking tv. If I decided to stop collecting and didn't get rid of the collection, the temptation would remain to pick it back up again. It's hard enough to just stop as it is. For instance, I'm still keeping tabs on classics G2 Ramjet even though for the price I could pay for MP Wheeljack. One is a must-have part of what is shaping up to be the definitive G1 Transformers line, the other is an overpriced repaint of a fun but limited mold that I already have 10 or 12 of. People don't collect without having some level of compulsion behind it. My compulsions are starting to annoy me. Also, selling it would alleviate the desire to spend more money on displays. But I think I'm going to try to hang on with the Joes. Something tells me that the ME style construction won't be around too much longer. And most of what's left is going to be overpriced repaints from the club. Speaking of, I'm surprised that you kept the rest of your stuff. IIRC you were trying to push Blades on me and FD, so I thought you were unloading. Now I'm wondering if you have any regrets? Playing is fun, especially if cameras are involved. Creativity is a good thing. And sure, I can try to help with whatever you need. |

I received my 2nd shipment today. Wide Scope is probably the best one so far...for me at least. I don't care for Tiger Force. I hate Shipwreck so that figure gets 2 strikes.
Out of all the figures that I kept so far (everything from sub 2.0, Big Boa, Cover Girl, Dice, Topside, Tan Grunt, Quarrel, and TNT) Skull Buster is the absolute worst. He only rates above Jinx, Barrel Roll, Blackout, Surefire, Iron Klaw, and Nano BAT for me because I sold / trade those figures off. I would have preferred a straight repaint of the DoCI/Target Gun figure than this PoS. The lower arms are terrible and make the arms too long. His gimpy right hand can't hold a gun realistically at all (it can hold the weapon with 3 ropes; whatever it's called). The colors are way off from the art and the original pic shown (too light/bright). No paint apps on the bullets as they are all tan. Just a really disappointing figure IMHO. He had potential. Assuming they squeeze out one more shipment before 2014, it better be 2 spectacular figures because so far I haven't really been that impressed.

I FINALLY was able to get the rear gun to the Cobra Stun for $5 FRICKIN bucks SHIPPED from a dude on Facebook, he just wanted to get rid of a lot he acquired and didn't care about it's market value. I'm so stoked!!!
