The GDO "Gotta have them now that they're exclusives" craze has passed for the most part. Wheelie's a great figure but I doubt anyone would want to pay more than retail for him now. Still, more there than I ever saw in person. Fortunately, I bought my second from TRU.com for less than that.
Yeah, I finally saw the dark ninja wave at Wal-Mart, no Alley-Viper but that's fine since I didn't feel like spending ten bucks on a single Joe "figger" anyway. They also had FoC Magnus, Sideswipe and whoever the third figure in that wave is that I can't remember. But they were sixteen and, therefore, of little interest. As for MP Sideswipe, only the same rumors and sky is falling speculations that you've heard, I'm sure. I'm not certain that we'll never see a Hasbro release, I'd suspect it's like everything else, a simple issue of paying enough money to Lamborghini. And I'd prefer him see an Amazon or, dare I say, BBTS release. If you want to know as much as anyone outside Takara and Hasbro, look for posts by TCracker on the TFW pages. I don't know his connections or take his word for gospel, but his info is better than most. Personally, I'm only interested in the whole thing as far as seeing MP-12 Tigertrack released is concerned. I have plans for him. That or any of the other obscure repaints like Deep Cover. |

Well, you piqued my curiosity enough to back-track through 40 or so pages of MP threads on TFW... and all I can say is that I'm bummed. All speculation of course, but still. Kinda makes me wish I had shopped around more, paid attention to the ¥/$ conversion rates. I still don't have the desire or the funds to support a full line of Autobot cars at $90 a pop, but if 'Swipe and Alert are the only ones missing... yeah, that'd suck.
As far as a Hasbro release goes, reading the speculation about the paint just made that even more unlikely, as I always figured Hasbro would just use red plastic. I would have no problem with that, but Lamborghini might. |

I hedged my hedged bet and tried my luck on the TFSource Red Alert preorder. After shipping I'm about $30 in the hole compared to just having kept my BBTS preorder. But at the end of this week I'm going to have put in over 10 hours of OT, so I figured I'd use some of it to roll the dice on both a future release and crap paint.
I couldn't be happier with Bluestreak. Small blurry pic or not, I'm jumping for joy at the 'toon deco. Hicks, will you be attempting to do the tru.com thing for Soundwave? |

Honestly, I do not know. I've got a pretty good friend who has been willing to help me with the TRU MPs in the past. I'm hoping he'll be able to find what I can't once again. But yeah, not too happy with Hasbro once again giving TRU the MP releases. Both Acid Storm and Soundwave will likely be a bear to track down. Especially with me not living reasonably near a TRU.
If I am reading right, you will not be disappointed with Red Alert figure-wise. The design is excellent and I can only imagine that the Datsun trio will be great as well. As you've pointed out, Bluestreak looks great. I can only hope that an eHobby, blue Bluestreak will show up soon. I did see the GI Joe three packs today at Wal-Mart. Pretty neat, I suppose, but I didn't even dare to look at the price tags. |

Hicks, I live 5 minutes from a TRU and would be perfectly willing to help you with transformers at cost and shipping. I'd need to know what I'm looking for, though.

You'll get your blue Bluestreak, I have no doubt. And a Silversteak. And whatever other decos they can come up with. As for Alert, BBTS just put up a couple of flawed returns... for $95. I do like the design and most of the engineering of the Lambos, save the hollow legs. I just don't like the shoddy QC. Or the price for what you get.
The 3 packs should be around $20. Unless you're shopping at the crazy TRU, then they're $29. Irid, the trouble with TRU, at least with the popular Masterpieces, is that they barely if ever make it to the shelves. I was lucky to see Rodimus and Grimlock (the latter I didn't need since I had ponied up for the Takara version). Never saw Optimus, and I looked. Hard. The hope is that Soundwave is made in enough quantity to get proper distribution, but who knows. In any case, I'm pretty sure Hicks (or any other interested party ) won't turn down your offer to help. I'll certainly pick up something if I know one of you needs it and I come across it. I have two TRUs within reasonable driving distance, and a third that is apparently using some different valuation of the dollar. They're just in all different directions. A round trip would easily be two hours in the car. Which is why I asked Hicks if he was going to be stalking the website. Buddy alert system FTW! |

I've also seen them at $25 some places, but Target's your best bet for the $20 price.

Those $95 Red Alerts lasted maybe 24 hours on BBTS. Yikes. I decided to snag a Tigertracks preorder. With any luck I'll be able to trade it for a 'Swipe down the road, or scalp the crap out of it. That wasn't originally my plan, but (potentially) desperate times, etc. I've been seriously considering a Sunstorm as well... way too pricey, and comes loaded with useless accessories, but... Yeah, tempted.
So after arguing with landlord/management for months about the fact that my apartment leeches in cold air like a cozy igloo in the Arctic, they finally came back to me this morning and said that they're not going to do anything about it, and don't let the door hit me on the way out. Of course, they didn't phrase it that way, but, "There's nothing more we can do, " and, "We will let you out of your lease early if you want," add up the same no matter how you pretty it up. So now I get to move. Again. So Irid, will you be making the hour drive or so up to NJCC at the end of next month? I'd ask you too Fogger, but it's like a 5-hour round trip lol. |
