Putting puerility aside for a moment, can anyone spot what's wrong with this picture?

Well, there you have it. Toys R Us once again screwing over the customer. You should join the MP-Prime discussion on TFW, I was offering to buy folks pitch forks, torches and baby ducks.
A woman who recently started working with us asked me tonight why I never have anything nice to say to her when she tries to talk to me. I replied, "I think this journey should start with, 'Why do you keep trying to talk to me?'" ... She did not like this. I suggest you all look into the Youtube's Bad Lip Reading Herman Cain and Joe Biden. Now, to avoid political whatnot and so forth I will tell you that it's merely people dubbing over various media bits of political figures. There are several, but Biden and Cain's are among the better. "Nachos and hogwash... This is my juice and I'm hungry. McDonald's special, give me a large plate. And I'll sing, sing, sing about it!" "Watch out for these spiders. Big potato moths, big potato moths. Aachoo!" "I'm gonna dance, make love and fix snacks for the Highlander Marathon!" "Is this a Jeep? And that's a pancake... Heh heh, dayum..." Last edited by Hicks_Royel; 10-25-2012 at 05:31 AM.. |

So in direct contradiction to my earlier statement, I bought a full set of the GDO (wtf does that stand for anyway?) deluxes. The little lady and I were supposed to go visit her sister today, and I had planned on hitting a TRU near here on the way up and one up there on the way back (looking primarily for MP10, but I would have grabbed Wheelie and Cliffjumper had I saw them). But given that we had some work to do before this %^%!@(&# storm hits, we cancelled the trip and concentrated on getting stuff together.
So when it came time to go and get some shopping done, I suggested stopping by the slightly-out-of-the-way TRU where I had previously seen (and passed on) CJ, as I was just at the local store with no sign of anything noteworthy. My girlfriend, being of the pony persuasion, had no problem with that. So we drive up, get there, and I confirm within seconds that there's nothing out on the pegs that I was looking for. She joins me just afterwards with similar news from the pink aisles. I HATE wasted trips, which is why I rarely do the retail hunt any more. We poked around for a bit, and after checking out the video games I did my usual "maybe I missed something" double check. And that's when one of the floor employees asks if she can help me. So I gave it a shot and asked if any of the China figures were in the back. She finishes up with another stock lookup and heads back, returning with a fresh case a few minutes later... actually APOLOGIZING to me because it took her a while to rearrange some pallets to get to their location. I reassured her that there was no need to apologize and thanked her. Looking through the case (2 each of everything), I decided to get Swerve and Springer even though I wasn't completely thrilled with them. Some of that was them looking better in person, some was knowing that if I changed my mind later I might be SOL. I briefly considered buying the 2nd set (with the helpful lady even egging me on ) but even though I probably could have flipped them for a few extra bucks, I left them for the next person. (Sorry if any of you guys were looking for them.) And on a completely different note, there's a bunch of bullshit headed this way and I'm not looking forward to one bit of it. And as anxious as I am about all of the possible things that can go wrong at home, I'm probably going to end up tag-teaming 12 hour shifts with one other guy at work since we're the only two within walking distance (not that we'll be walking). The rest of the building will be empty while two people in the lowest-paid department take turns making sure that the corners that were cut in power redundancy, telco redundancy, DR planning, and emergency power don't result in the company going under just because of bad weather. Yeah, I'm a bit bitter. Anyway, to all of you gents likely to get wet the next few days, stay dry. |

Well, I have two days off of work. I would happily trade those days for the power NOT going out. That being said, well, I'm going to cook as many hearty stew type things that will keep in my cooler (I have frozen roughly 14 bajillion gallons of bottled water over the past 48 hours) and that me and Mrs. Irid can live off of for a couple of days if need be. There is also plenty of wine.
In better news, hit up a toy show today. Got a mostly complete Hammerhead for $30. Got a Visionaries Lancer Cycle, complete, unassembled, everything still bagged and sprued and sealed, for $35 (that should have been a good deal more). And a G.I. Joe Lunchbox for $5. Totally taking my lunch in it the next day I go to work. |

GDO was Global something or other... Basically, a gimmick to entice sales.
Whoo Hammerhead! I wish mine hadn't been destroyed/scattered/and pieces of it buried in my youth. It's really a simple toy but those oversized wheels and all the minisubs/skiers that split off of it make it awesome. So, I guess I'm going to have to put out a bounty on MP-Prime before long. Seems I can't trust my TRU.com preorder to hold. I've missed out on all four that have [randomly] shown up at the "local" TRU now. Good luck with the Winter Hurricane. It's just now dropped into the sixties around here. |
