They "reflect" the G1 mail-in's deco.
So, if I had a big pile of cash and nothing better to do with it, I think I would buy say... twenty-five each of MP-Thundercracker and MP-11 Sunstorm. Why? Well, let me get to it you impatient jackwipe. The TRU MP-Thundercracker is causing quite a bit of grief for collectors. And, honestly, it has been frustrating for me as well. So, yeah, it's starting to swell. Now imagine if a man with too much money and the free time to execute this plan were to swap out twenty-five MP-Thundercrackers with MP-11 Sunstorms, put all the packaging back as it should be, [down to the nylon bands, paper ties and clear tape] and return those twenty-five "MP-Thundercrackers" to random TRUs across this great nation we live in... And just sit back and wait until one is found. Oh, the grief this "Variant" would generate. The "wft"s and "Fuck Hasbro"s that would come forth would likely result in an angry mob taking to the streets, assaulting both Hasbro's headquarters and eBay's as well. And since I'm made of money at this point, I would also put in the extra effort to change the name on the display stand to read, "Sunstorm". You know, just to give it that little something extra for those questioning if the first few finds are legit. And yes, the fanboy mob would take to the streets, but once it realized it probably had to walk more than two blocks in order to seriously burn anything down, and that bricks and cinderblocks are heavy, it would simply weeze its way back to the computer screen. "TO BITCH MIGHTILY." That's their motto, I think.

Hicks, I am willing to contribute the princely sum of $5 dollars - US DOLLARS, even - to this task.

I bet I could keep five more for myself and pay off the whole prank with a few BiN listings. I tell you, guys like Lex Luthor thought way too large with their evil schemes. You can't grab for the whole pie without drawing unwanted attention... but who's really watching where the fly lands everytime? |

All I can say is I'm really glad I don't consider Sunstorm essential. Neither MP deco really appealed to me, and the Takara one is crazy expensive.

But... but he's like the Televangelist of Cybertron. I bet for just a small donation of your bank account number he'll even send you a packet of miracle electrum that'll ease your energon woes, cure your glitches and save your very immortal spark.

Loved your feedback comments to BestBuy and Hasbro - hope they read it and contemplated your input. And I'm also very tempted to get the PE-12 Assault Force X. But I need to save $$$ for the upcoming Macross Frontier VF-25G release, of which I will have to pay eBay prices for. Didn't even see any preorders for it.

I am so so glad I don't have a need to own any Valkyries. I love Macross to death, and they keep coming out with better and better figures and model kits. I'd be flat broke.

Macross Valkyries are truly plastic crack. LOL.
I own 5x 1/48 Yamato valks and love them. The recent Bandai reissues of the Macross Frontier valks are sweet. I only own the Alto version, missed Ozma - but really want the Michail sniper version.

Vermillion, Retaliation's execution [both in product design and distribution] was pretty much the final straw. Add yet another price hike and movie delays and I was convinced that I could spend my money elsewhere on better.
Sure, there are things I'd liked from the new stuff, but I don't feel I've missed out not owning them. Unlike say, having recently bought a third Wal-Mart MP-Starscream just to keep my one original MISB and still have one to display in jet mode. I still have mixed emotions about handing the third one I had found in store to a guy who was genuinely excited to see him and I hope was able to by him because I'm pretty sure he was part of the group from the "differently abled" crew whose bus was parked outside. To this day I wish I had walked up front with the and purchased it for him to make sure he got it. And I also kick myself for handing it over not knowing if he could/would buy it for himself. For all I know, he was happy to simply look at it in the store. Like I said... he was... well... He functioned on a different level. Anyway, I need only one Macross piece, so far as I can tell. And yes, it's only so he can fill in as an MP-Jetfire. I just don't want to spend the money on one right now because I suspect that, given time the Macross line will once again release a suitable figure and the price will be better. In all fairness, I had been watching the listing for about two weeks, hoping no one would buy it until I had cut enough corners to buy it. Then I did. And only after I had finished my purchase did I see the above. |

Someone posted a sighting on tfans at like 1am. I immediately got dressed and drove to the store, which was 20-25 minutes away. When I got there the action figure aisle was blocked off due to floor buffing. I was trying to see if I could find where they got put, checking end caps and islands. Finally saw that they had 3, hopped the barrier, and grabbed one. I wasn't sticking around waiting for them to be done and/or other bolder than I to do what I ended up doing. Quote:
