I know what you mean about a person's time being worth something. I usually hear it brought up along the lines of, "I make $X an hour at work, so for me to go to the store and buy you something that you cannot find locally, I deserve X/60*minutes spent helping you." Which to me is pretty much bullshit unless you get paid 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and need to be compensated for lost wages. To me, my free time is exactly that, free. If I wanna stay up all night refreshing a page that won't be updated until the morning at the earliest, I don't need some damn accountant telling me I'm not worth anything!
No, seriously, I won't be staying up either, lol. Would you like a call and or text if I see stuff going up? Because I'd love one. |

It isn't just about wages at work; I'm just saying that ALL time has a value and staying up all night pressing F5 seems to be placing a pretty low price on it.
And absolutely.

Clearly, the state of RI doesn't think my time is worth more than $15 a day because that's what they pay you for a day's work of jury duty. I have to go next Monday. They've changed it. It's a minimum of 2 days. If you don't get picked for a trial you're free to go. This has potential to ruin my summer vacation.
I'm already pissed that I have to go. I'll be livid if I have to stay longer. It's such bullshit because they sent out this survey type thing 2 months ago saying that you may get hit with it. May? You mean of course I'll get it because I'm getting this BS survey to begin with. Why couldn't they pick me during school? Noooo, gotta pick me when I'm off work. Assholes.

You got it.
I wasn't trying to argue with your point, just present an extreme version of it that's been a pet peeve of mine. Besides, I have a better way to refresh all night... Last year, I was alerted to an abandoned Zarana preorder on BBTS by David Bowie startling me out of a sound sleep, lol. Unfortunately my Internet at home is limited to 3G on an iPad, so no nifty Firefox plugins for me. (._.) Edit: I just moved to a different county, so I'm wondering when I'll get hit with jury duty. I didn't get called the entire 10 years I was in my previous residence. O_o Last edited by Hellion42; 07-16-2012 at 12:04 AM.. |

They can get you every 7 years in RI. I got hit right after I registered to vote when I turned 18, then at 25, and now at 32.

This has been done.
I just caved and got a red Jinx off of the eBay. There were a bunch of auctions all ending within a few minutes of each other, so I figured that was the time to strike. I set a total price ($40, less than BBTS after shipping) and stuck to it. I'll still be taking my chances in the HTS Frustration Lottery, but at least now I (should) have the one essential covered. FD, I'll still take that BBTS preorder from you just in case the eBay thing goes sour. Sounds familiar, eh? lol... |

The only things I really must get off HTS would be Shockwave and the MU 3 pack, and by must get I mean "I'm not paying more than the Hasbro price because I don't want them that badly." I already paid what I thought was reasonable for both Jinxes (and for the MLP exclusive for the Missus), though if I can get all of the exclusives through HTS tomorrow or Tuesday (my money is Tuesday) I'll still do it, and try to sell them off for modest reimbursement of what I spent on the first three.

I hung onto my extras from last year. Came in handy when trying to work trades for this year's Joecon stuff.
