Either that, or there's suddenly a whole lot of supply and a whole lot of collectors willing to pay more than the BIN price for something that sat unsold for months. Last edited by Hellion42; 02-21-2012 at 12:06 PM.. |

Ah HAH. No, Hicks, I do not do P90X. But I do something very similar, called Rushfit. A mix of isometrics, plyometrics, light dumbbells and body weight exercises spread across different days and so on. Yeah. Very similar. And if it's a cult, it's a cult that worships hurting all the fucking time.
But hey, day two down. Eighty-eight to go. Hellion, Fast Draw: I know I've said this before, but hopefully this week we can get some resolution on the Convention sets. Last week got a little worse than I had planned. Honestly though, I'm lost at what to even ask for any of it and I've yet to find my old payment receipts for it. So... yeah. |

Well, if you use recent ebay auctions as a guide, I think we're all SOL.

I'm actually thinking about $100 for the Blades set. I don't know about the others though. |

So I was reading through that necro-bumped thread on what pegwarmed back in the day. And I realized I hardly ever actually SHOPPED for toys when I was a kid. An allowance was something that kids on TV got. Doing chores around the house wasn't rewarded with money, it was just something we had to do. The few chores I did around the neighborhood never netted me enough to do much with but walk to the corner store and buy junk with (old people, go figure). When I went shopping with the folks I most certainly ogled the toy section, but I don't have a distinct memory of asking for anything really, let alone getting it on the spot. (Shopping with my grandparents was another story, but that didn't happen very often.) I did pore over the Sears catalog with much interest, and built ridiculously massive Christmas and birthday lists with it. But reading the thread it hit me that I hardly ever went to a store just to get toys as a kid.
That's not to say that I was deprived. I remember when I was little my dad used to come home with random gifts, usually Transformers (I got my Megatron that way). I found out later that those seemingly random gifts were the result of a bit of overtime. Those lists I built? I got enough of it come gift-giving time that I was a happy kid. Of course I also got the cards from relatives that didn't dare try to guess which toy to buy, and subbed a few bucks instead. Which led me to wonder, what DID I spend my money on when I was a kid? And the answer made me laugh, because it's supposedly a big reason why those darn kids these days don't bother with toys. I bought video games. I remember wandering through the cavernous aisles of Discount Harry's, gaping at the all Transformers, MASK, and particularly Voltron (which I always wanted but never got), and walking out with a crappy Atari 2600 game, and later Nintendo games. Toys R Us? I didn't even know where the Joes WERE, but I'd waffle back and forth in that long-ass aisle of game boxes and the paper tags you had to take to the front, agonizing over my potential purchase. I remember being intimidated in the very quiet, very sterile, very tidy video game specialty shop in some mall (probably Software Etc, but I can't be sure), and walking out with a copy of Jackal. I'm guessing that's part of the reason why I fell so hard into toy collecting once I "grew up." It was nostalgic AND new at the same time. Funny how stuff works out sometimes. |

My parents and grandparents were all fairly generous when I was growing up.

My parents and other relatives were very generous when I was growing up; the number of things on the "wanted but never got" list was much, much smaller than its opposite. Birthdays, Christmases (I remember distinctly the Christmas morning of the USS Flagg, and the next of the Terrordrome) and lastly, report card days. I didn't get an allowance, exactly, but I got cash money for As and a lesser amount for Bs, and since I was, and remain, a nerd, I got plenty of As and Bs. Usually each A would translate to a GI Joe figure. There were also random gifts (often something my dad saw and thought was cool). But man, looking back, I feel like a greedy little sumbitch; Joes, Transformers, TMNT, C.O.P.S...I had a lot of stuff.

Where the hell is everyone? Well, I realize it's late on a Saturday night so you probably all have things to do, so let me rephrase; where has everyone been lately?

hmmm... my world has been revolving around toilet training.
I still can't quite get it, but it looks like our boy is a fast learner.

I've been battling some sort of upper respiratory infection, working all by my lonesome while my coworker took care of family business, intermittently checking Ross for Hiss Scouts, and not having a whole lot of time to relax (or at least that's how it seems).
