TF badnewsfest started with Bay getting the rights to the movie franchise... but that's whole different direction than you probably meant

Star Trek geek out moment (or dork out for Krisk):
TNG wasn't that bad in retrospect. The later seasons were miles better - they got better cameras, effects, wesley stopped whining to be on the bridge every five minutes (did they really need him at all???), they got some original ideas (and stopped hashing up an original series re-write every three or four episodes). Patrick Stewart is a great actor any way you cut it. Troi (sp?) should have never been allowed to wear those jumpsuits though, just when you think you're safe, she turns around. DS9 - lots of characters that don't go anywhere and cant seem to get anything done. Voyager - oh. this again. lost in space. it was actually a drinking game, hit a shot every time there is a "sub space anomaly" and you'll never see straight again. Enterprise - great all around. second only to the original series but a huge step above the other spinouts. The last episode though was just pathetic. Why did they have to weave in TNG and a holodeck? They give us Troi in a jumpsuit while Riker waffles on running to Picard to tell on somebody, but they don't show us Archer's speech at the convention to form the whole damn Federation. We now return to our thread, already in progress.

My favorite Star Trek is the new movie, which is far superior to any of the others, because JJ Abrams realized the only thing that needed doing to make Star Trek awesome was to copy the plot of the first Star Wars film.
NERDFIGHT. Not really. I am a Star Wars first, Star Trek is kind of ok guy (though I frankly though Enterprise was a simply unwatchable show, and I tried the first few episodes). DS9 was way, way better when it was called "Babylon 5," too.

I've always been a fan of Star Trek. Back when TNG was still on, I watched even reruns religiously and read a bunch of the books. Netflix now streams all of the shows except DS9. Sometime soon I may have to start through them, although that seems like quite an undertaking.
